What is sideways?

sideways is a virtual rally co-driver that automatically detects corners on your planned route and reads out pacenotes to you as you drive. It aims to provide a prepared driving experience for enthusiasts of scenic roads and rally fans.

Can sideways be used offline?

Yes, sideways allows you to save your favorite roads for offline use. This means you can still receive navigation and pacenotes even when you don't have a signal, which is ideal for mountain driving.

What devices does sideways support?

sideways is currently supported on iPhone and iPod devices. It offers background navigation, so the co-driver continues to provide voice cues even when the screen is off.

How does sideways detect corners?

sideways uses a custom corner detection algorithm that automatically identifies every corner along a planned route. It then rates each corner's severity from 1 to 6, including hairpins and square turns.

Does sideways have ads?

No, sideways is ad-free. The app is completely free to download and use without any advertisements interrupting your driving experience.

What languages and voices are available in sideways?

sideways offers a selection of 16 co-driver voices across 11 different languages. This allows users to choose a voice and language that best suits their preference.

Can I import routes into sideways?

Yes, sideways supports importing routes from .gpx files. This feature allows you to easily bring your pre-planned routes into the app for navigation.

What is the age rating for sideways?

sideways has an age rating of 17+. This is likely due to the nature of driving-related applications and the potential for users to engage in spirited driving on scenic routes.
