About
Find where great photos were actually taken, on a map. Sightspot pins 129,000 high-quality photos from Wikimedia Commons to their real camera positions, each with the sample photo, focal length, aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Photos with a recorded direction also show their field of view on the map.
FIND SPOTS ON THE MAP
Move the map and the list shows the spots in view. Zoomed out, it shows a random set of photos, so you can discover places worth shooting anywhere in the world.
SEE HOW IT WAS SHOT
Open a spot for the large photo, its title and description, coordinates, date taken, camera and lens, focal length (with the 35mm equivalent), aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Photos with a direction show where the camera pointed and how wide it saw.
FILTER BY COLLECTION
Show only Commons featured, quality or valued images, or selections from the Wiki Loves Monuments and Wiki Loves Earth photo contests.
GET THERE
Open any spot in Maps for directions, then line up your shot with the sample on site.
Photos come from Wikimedia Commons; every one credits its author and license (mostly CC BY / CC BY-SA) and links to its original file page. The app is free, with no ads and no account, and is not affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation.
