Crashes

I was hopeful about the app but the microphone does not work - ever time I try to use the microphone the app crashes

Not recommending this app.

If this is the exact English signing no thank you. There is more fingerspelling then signing the word. For as much as this app cost I expected more than just fingerspelling.

Should have read reviews

I saw this app at a Assistive Tech presentation. Went ahead and downloaded it, thinking it was really neat. When you actually try to use it, it has lots of glitches. I tried, "what are you doing?" It didn't like the word you. So don't expect it to translate every word for you. Extremely disappointed. I was hoping to get a little help from this app, as I work with special needs preschoolers. This was not that helpful, especially for the price. Wish to get my $12.00 back.

iOS 8 issues

This app is a great tool for learning sign language but there are compatibility issues with the iOS 8 update that make the app less effective.

ASL not BSL

Probably my own fault for not reading the whole description but it says signed English (so didn't read any further, downloaded and paid ยฃ8.99) however there is nothing English about it, it's ASL so total waste of money

Asl

Shame it's asl not Bsl

DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!

I was so disappointed with this app.
If you need help with sign class this is not the app. It finger-spells to many of the words.

Crashing problem

This app crashes everytime i open it. I can't even use it anymore. Could you pls do something about it. The other reviewer had the same problem. Is this issue going to be resolved soon. I just purchased this app a few minutes ago and i can't even use it. This should be a good app if it works properly.

AppReview

Updates! Updates! Updates! I can't stress it enough. This app could be a great app if instead of spelling out 50% of words it would actually show the sign for it. $12.99 is a lot of money to pay for something that shows you how to spell a word and not sign it. The virtual Avatar is great and the fact that you can view a sign in different angles is awesome but it needs to show you more signs as opposed to how to spell them.

Can't use one new iPad due to constant crashing

This application keeps crashing on the new iPad, please fix the issue and I'll adjust the rating immediately.

horrible app

the app is overpriced for wat it is. the avatar does alot of finger spelling as opposed to asl. disappointed.

A Lot of Thought

The creators put a lot of thought into tech and design. Most languages are taught idea by idea or word for word so don't fault the team for not putting forth effort and energy . Bernard Bragg taught his language to hearing persons in this manner .

Sign4Me

This program is not worth the money. If want to learn ASL you should learn it correctly and that won't happen with this program.

I learned how

I had written a negative review before I finally figured out how to use it. Stick with it. I have a client who is deaf but has limited signing skills, he and I were able to communicate using this, a combination of reading and signing. I was able to slow it down so we could figure it out. This is the best I've seen because you can use words instead of having to spell.

needs more vocabulary!

There are too many words that this doesn't know and just finger spells. They also have chosen to not include any slang/vulgar terms and the avatar just skips those words without any finger spelling. I like the app, but it could be enhanced quite a bit. One of the books on signs I have explains the meaning behind the signs, that would provide a huge benefit as well. For example, the sign for "boy" is to indicate the brim of a baseball cap, knowing that, it makes it very easy to remember. I'd love to see the option of having the explanations. Having said that, I still like this app, I just wish the creators would continue to enhance it. It hasn't changed in years.

3D

Most interesting app for learning sign language.

Sign 4 Me

Has some limitations, but the best app to use because it is 3D and ASL is 3D. Other apps r still drawings and do not clearly show the motion critical to the sign.

Can I get a refund?

Terrible! I am a late deafened adult and a novice signer. This is not ASL. Big disappointment and total waste of money.

Great idea but needs work!

This is a great idea and concept but there is PLENTY of room for improvement. For instance, there are many common words that aren't in the library (like many numbers, i.e. The sign for fifteen according to the avatar is signing a one followed by a 5). Further, many words are simply finger spelled rather than showing the real sign. This is probably done in order to attest that they have the 11,500 words in their dictionary. For instance, they don't even have the sign for the verb "do" - such a common word, yet the avatar simply finger spells it!

There should also be some form of feedback mechanism to send suggestions for signs not in their system yet. This is especially true for the words they just finger spell, which I find to be a total cop out.

This app is great as a SUPPLEMENT to other ASL tools like books or flash cards. Given the limited scope of the word pool, I would highly suggest that you have other resources at the ready.

So disappointed

This app is best suited for an ASL learner that can just about, pretty much, sign their first name. Don't let the Avatar's looks fool you, this is a scam. I want my 15 bucks back!
