About

SignPiP makes videos accessible to Deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers by adding a sign-language interpreter — right on screen. Paste a link to a lecture or talk you have the right to use, and SignPiP creates a new version of the video with a signing avatar in a picture-in-picture window. The speech is transcribed, translated into sign, and performed by an animated interpreter in the corner of the screen — so you can watch the original video and follow the signing at the same time. BUILT FOR LEARNING Lectures, tutorials, and talks are often spoken-only. SignPiP means Deaf and hard-of-hearing students no longer have to choose between watching the content and reading captions: the sign appears alongside the video, the way a live interpreter would. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Turn videos you have the right to use into sign-language picture-in-picture versions • Watch in Chinese Sign Language (CSL) or American Sign Language (ASL) — one is included free, chosen to match your device language; the second can be added with a one-time in-app purchase (not a subscription) • Choose where the interpreter sits and how transparent the overlay is • Save the signed video to your device • Review and correct the signing — fix a word and re-render for a more accurate result HOW IT WORKS SignPiP listens to the video's audio, writes out what is said, and drives a 3-D avatar to sign it. Everything is assembled into a single video you can play or download. Made with, and for, the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community — because everyone deserves the same access to video.

What's New in SignPiP

1.0.2

October 22, 2026

Choose how videos are signed. Dictionary signing, built from the recorded signs of real Chinese Sign Language signers, is now the default; AI-generated signing is still available as an option. Share a YouTube or Bilibili video straight to SignPiP from the share sheet, and get a notification when the signed version is ready. Watch with signing: play the video in the app with the signing avatar on top, or float the avatar in a Picture-in-Picture window over the YouTube app. The app now tells you if the signing service is unavailable.
