Best offline strategy game ever

This game has provided me endless hours of enjoyment. The game itself is easy to learn yet very challenging. I’ve played it through countless times and continue to enjoy finding new endings. Enthusiastic two thumbs up!

Close…. So close.

I want to love this game. I do. It’s so very close. But am I missing something or does the bird cult always gain dominance. It makes almost the rest of it pointless and basically is just you vs a bird cult guy.

If I’m missing something I’ll change my rating but from what I can tell the bird cult kills you if you leave them in your city. And if you cast them out they take over the other cities then all declare war on you making basically any effort you put in politics pointless.

How about a way the bird cult doesn’t exist? Or diplomatic missions to friend cities that remove the bird cult influence.

Without the bird cult thing… 5 starts. But I just can’t get behind a game that basically one series of events ruins the gameplay each time.

Hi Ben. Yes the challenge is intense, it's a kind of countdown you have to overcome. But there are many ways to get there ;)

Why hasn’t this been done before?

This is like a streamlined King of Dragon Pass. It’s the perfect strategy game on mobile. If they were to come out with DLC, I would pay for it.

Hi chaostherory. Thank you, we think about it :)

Enjoyable strategy dice game

I enjoyed it. Haven’t had all the deaths or completed the quest with the scroll, you can take different strategies to win. Developer promises to add more scenarios . I’m eagerly waiting.

Hi Snadki.Need some time and money, but it's planned :)

Highly recommend!

What an amazing game! It’s way harder than I expected—I still haven’t beaten it. Well worth its cost, and a great purchase for anyone looking for an engrossing strategy game.

Thank you :)

A great game with replay value

This game is so much fun. Every time I thought I figured it out the story would take a turn but in a good way. After several tries I finally beat it but will continue to play to find all the endings. Well done developers

Thank you Texas Colonel !

Buggy UI on iPad 12.9”

Some messages are cut off at the bottom of the screen, and the “dialog” window is hidden behind the main board game window, so I’m not sure how I’m supposed to read half of the messages on the screen. The game seems awesome! Just wish I could play it.

Update: Restarting the app seems to have fixed the display issue. Now I just wish it supported landscape orientation. Overall the game is good fun.

Great RPG

A great way to play a tabletop style RPG on mobile. Subreddit for the game is r/Silmaris

Thanks !

Wonderful game!

The game is written beautifully and is very reminiscent of a D&D type experience. Yet it involves the story of a kingdom rather than just a singular character. All choices have an extremely interesting effect on the rest of the game. I don’t know if anything can really be added, but am very excited to see more content.

Thank you jhesk ! Some content will be added, but it is a large amount of work so it will take a little time.

Wow surprisingly amazing

This game scratched my storybook/rpg/turn-based strategy itch big time! Please improve on this game and use this foundation for future expansions for this setting or other stories.

Thank you CookieWarlock, i will !

Silmaris

This game is a middle ground between a medieval themed RTS flash game and Crusader Kings, as a mobile game should be. The passion and thought put into this game is evident and the polish is shiny throughout. I bought this game because it was recommended to me and there were not enough reviews for me to form an opinion. This game is devoid of micro transactions, though it’s obvious the Fate points are begging for this feature, and similarly devoid of most accessibility options. While this game is on the higher end of mobile games and I definitely do not regret my purchase, text size options and a darker more friendly on the eyes version, at the cost of losing the awesome parchment look, would go a long way. Additionally, as mentioned in the game’s description and by the author this is not meant to be easy and it is not. A delicate balance matches with trial and error in a luck based system that frustrates and invigorates on the same breath. I understand this may be requesting a breach in artistic integrity but and option to allow a behind the curtain that gives the ability to adjust relationship values, base dice/fate values, councilor properties, handicap properties (adding or removing dice from checks as well as lessening or strengthening story consequences), or the Sorcery! like ability to rewind time to a recent decision sandbox like environment would be simply divine. If nothing else, I’m excited to see the designer move forward into other apps and watching as they progress. Thank you for your time and good luck!

Hello Spidey. First of all thank you for your support, it's really encouraging! I agree, changing the text size options and the darker mode are good ideas, I'll think about that. And I have long hesitated to make the game more configurable, easier to win, without pressure etc, with options like the ones you describe. The decision was not easy, but I finally chose to keep the challenge high, because it was the starting point of my idea and everything is finally built around that. Changing that might have given a very different game I think, which I wanted to avoid. I know that this decision will earn me bad comments (I already have one for that matter) and maybe less success, but it is a price that I agree to pay. Thank you again and if you have other suggestions, don't hesitate to write me directly by email !

This game is great!

Easy to pick up and start but deep enough to keep you playing for a long while. There are lots of ways to approach different events with surprising and interesting results. I didn’t expect much when I downloaded this; it was a real pleasant surprise. If you like games where you make choices that matter, and where there are several valid ways to approach different challenges, don’t miss this one.

Really fun and hard

This game is fantastic. I’m hooked, the complexity of trying to win with all the story line options and how they impact you is great. Every game I’ve played has been different. Really impressed by this game. Worth my $5.

Story and systems, interwoven

Silmaris is a well-written, beautifully illustrated strategy game that interweaves its systems with an excellent choose-your-own-adventure narrative. The story is delivered in a procedural and modular fashion, making it very replayable.

Resource management is simple (handled with dice) but adds the right mix of complexity and challenge. Your choices — what you can do in the story sections, and which goals to pursue on the map — are dependent on having capital to spend in any of five resource categories (war, diplomacy, wisdom, exploration, and spying).

This is a unique and highly polished game, well worth the asking price. It has strong King of Dragon Pass energy but carves its own path. Give it a chance!

Thanks Max !

Okay; fun for awhile, not $4.99 worth

It’s more frustrating than fun a lot of times: and it has fewer options than some free flash game versions. Get it at a discount or don’t: 4.99 is $4 too much.
It’s enjoyable for a day or so but very very very repetitive.

Response from developer

Hi Sam, Silmaris is not designed to be a casual game, but to be challenging and rewarding. Some players love the die and retry side, other don't, but it's entirely possible to win.

Really good fans of Six Ages or KODP

I bought this on a whim after reading a not so stellar review that caught my eye. Been playing for about a week now, and I really like the mix of interactive fiction and board game/strategy. No real complaints on my end, so I’m pleased.

Response from developer

Thanks Matt. Really happy to read this!

Great Fun

I can’t seem to stop playing this game for some reason - maybe it’s because I keep getting so close to winning that I have to have one more go. I came close to winning once but forgot how to initiate the final battles and I timed out - doh!

Love the look of the game and the randomness is just about right for me as I tend not to like games that are too swingy - you make your own luck in this game if you remember what to do for the various predicaments that are thrown your way.

Great way to spend an hour (or two) and a great job by the devs.
