Good Start But Needs More Development
In terms of layout, the old and new app now look the same. I still prefer the web browser version as you can do more of the things needed in session with it compared to the app. Please consider the following developments:
-Ability to turn self-scheduling on and off
-Ability to edit invoices
-Ability write manual notes in tandem with Note Taker recording/generating
-A minimized screen for Note Taker to ensure it’s still running
-Instructions for how to prevent Note Taker from ceasing to work during sessions or when trying to save
-Ability to use Snippet feature when writing notes

Outstanding recent update!
Absolutely. Outstanding update. Resolved both the Calendar view issue that people were identifying, as well as the client list now default to sorting by last name and stays at that setting with each app Launch. Very impressed and grateful that the engineering team really listens to the user feedback. Very thankful for the excellent product. SimplePractice puts out with all of their individual products. Thank you for this great and fantastic update.

Needs Chart Note Functionality
The app is much improved from the old version but still lacks chart note functionality. Chart notes are frequently needed to be put down when on the go. It boggles me thinking that this feature has not been included from the beginning. Also, the app has a problem where you are psychotherapy note does not save automatically. This causes problems if the app crashes or freezes, or if you accidentally swipe back, which happens frequently. It would be infinitely better for there to be a pop-up so that if you swipe back it asks you if you would like to save before just sending you back and deleting everything with no warning.

Works 1/5 of the time
Was excited to download this as part of the NoteTaker trial. Only something like 1/5 of the recordings actually work, and then the recording just fails and disappears leaving me with no record of my session. It uses my phone’s voice recorder, so I have no other way to document my session. Incredible frustrating. Would be much happier if I could take and upload my own recordings like all the other similar apps that exist.

Meh
I’ve tried using the notetaker and a couple times I had difficulty with the app not downloading the note or would not stop recording at the end of the session. It was a waste of time
Great start but buggy
Great premise, especially with note taker but the option doesn’t always show up, which makes or breaks the feature. I’m hopeful with more updates it can live up. Would also be helpful to ask us how long psychotherapy was provided for to help with psychiatrist billing. I have more notes.
Disappointing update
The previous two versions did not hold or maintain the sorting order for client names. It defaults to first name when most medical records are filed alphabetically by last name. I manually changed the sort option to last name. Which works initially. As soon as you log out of the app and sign right back in once again, it defaults the first name. Incredibly frustrating. Anybody else noticed this issue? Please report if so to Technical Support.

I can’t use it
The calendar is so chaotic. I do not like this new version at all because the most important feature (the calendar) is so garbled. I do not use Google calendar on my phone for the same reason. I need to see everything, clearly, on one screen.
Helps when away from desk
I appreciate being able to enter information away from my desk. The app is user friendly. Glad it’s part of the subscription plan!
Major Upgrade ✨
This version is a major upgrade. The ability to view everyone’s schedule in-app is exactly what I needed as a supervisor managing a group practice. The layout is cleaner, faster, and more intuitive—especially for clinicians who juggle multiple roles.
One feature I’m loving is the in-app note taker for in-person sessions. No more cluttering my phone with voice memos or scrambling to type on the fly—this helps free up storage and keeps everything HIPAA-compliant and in one place.
Still exploring the full feature set, but so far it feels like they really listened to what providers need in real time—especially those of us supervising interns and managing operations on the go. Strong step forward.

Appointment Times
The AM and PM of appointment times sometimes change on their own, for example appointment start time at 4pm changes to 4am randomly even after the correct appointment time was saved.
Very happy
The updated Simple Practice app has made some meaningful improvements. The layout is more user-friendly, and everyday tasks like scheduling, note-taking, and accessing client information feel more efficient overall.
One feature I’ve found particularly helpful is the AI integration. It’s a thoughtful addition that helps streamline documentation without taking away the clinician’s voice or control. It saves time, especially on busy days, and adds a layer of support that’s genuinely useful.
Overall, the app feels more polished and responsive. While no platform is perfect, this update makes a positive difference in how I manage my practice on the go.

Wonderful app
This app is a wonderful replacement of the original SimplePractice for Clinicians app. I love how it refreshes in real-time and brings forward so many features! I hope the developers bring forth a calendar we can swipe through easily rather than it remaining “static” in place for events. A flowing experience would be incredible. I hope the app improves even more with refresh rates, even bringing on a manual refresh button that’s small for on-the-go refreshes.

Two factor ID doesn’t work
Not getting two factor ID text code to login.
Still needs work!
The client listing will not hold the option to sort my last name and keeps reverting to first name sorting, despite changing it to last name repeatedly. Minor tweak but thought the engineer team would like to know. Otherwise it’s a fantastic app. Love the use of color to help make distinction and I think very well laid out. Request would be to include listed TASKS in addition to the REMINDERS. This is one place where this app varies from the web platform

Like the current app better
I don’t like the calendar view options at all. The old app is much better!
Need the calendar to default to monthly view; bring back “Get Help” + “Sync Your Account” feature
I appreciate the new design and improvements, but there are some major usability issues that make this app frustrating to use in daily clinical practice. First, I’d really like the calendar to default to monthly view- each time I open the app, it reverts to single-day view, which slows me down.
Also, not being able to customize the calendar appearance so that the entire week fits on one screen without scrolling is a dealbreaker for me. I rely on seeing a full snapshot of my schedule at a glance, just like I can on the website.
Another disappointment is that sections like “Get Help” and “Sync Your Account”, which were available on the older SimplePractice for Clinicians app, are missing in this new SimplePractice Clinician App. These features are essential and their absence makes the transition feel incomplete.
Hoping to see these features brought back or added soon

Need to customize weekly box size to fit on screen
The functionality is much better than it was before, but not being able to customize the appearance of the calendar so the entire week of appointments fits on one screen without togging down is a deal breaker for me, and I’ll stick to the website until it’s fixed. I also would like it to default to weekly view, and each time I open the app it goes back to single-day view. The help section seems to have settings on the iPad app that don’t exist, as I don’t see any of the ones they show on their graphics. I have all those options when I use the website, so I know it’s not a user permissions thing. This is a good start, but needs improvement before I’ll switch over.
