When silent is turn on your iPhone you will not hear any sound when using this guitar app. If you want to yes hear sound come from this guitar app that means you need to turn your silent off. So for this guitar app silent on=no sound coming from this guitar app & silent off=yes you will hear guitar sound from this guitar app.
