Beware will not work with any version of IOS 26 - will brick Maestro

Please be aware that there is a known major issue (check the singular sound forum) that the maestro will brick and not sync with the required app on iOS running 26 or 26.2. The company "fix" is to use an older device running older iOS versions and to contact Apple to get it resolved in future iOS updates. The device is absolutely useless without connecting to the app as that is the only way to program. There have been no longer term alternative solutions provided by Singular Sound.

It will brick your midi maestro

This app doesn’t work on iOS. Basically when you update the firmware on the device using the app and you finish the process. You will get “eeprom invalid” on the top three screens of the MIDI maestro. You won’t be able to sync back to the device as the app will no longer be able to connect and then you’ll just get “transmission error” messages. Apparently this has been a known issue in the singular sound community forum, with as of right now, no way to fix the problem using a newer Apple phone or iOS. You can work around by using an android phone but I don’t have one nor do I have the time to constantly fiddle around with an app/device that no longer works until they update the app somehow. As of right now I would not buy the midi maestro or use the app on an Apple phone.

App is solid and functional on iOS 17.6.1+

This is to balance all the shade being thrown at this app…dunno why the hate? Seems logical and straightforward; works fine for me! App is functional and intuitive, albeit a bit spartan, but it’s just a MIDI editor, and that it does.

How about an iOS app for the Aeros Looper and Beat Buddy…and PLEASE ENABLE THE BLUETOOTH BTLE MIDI on the Aeros so we can go wireless!

Bad job.

The MIDI Maestro App crashes frequently. After setting up a custom mode for my Headrush MX5, the app crashes every time I attempt to open any mode. It was a waste of time trying to reach out to the BeatBuddy support team. Their unprofessionalism was evident.

We saw your note here because we just updated to version 1.8.0 a few weeks ago and it was pointed out to us. Everything that you need

I don’t really understand the negative reviews. It’s not supposed to be this revolutionary app it’s just supposed to make it so you can create your custom modes and manage the MIDI Maestro in an easy and intuitive way, and that’s exactly what it does. Since their most recent update, I can’t find one thing that I’ve had a problem with. Can’t wait for more custom modes that I make with my other MIDI pedals.

Definitely way smoother now

The new update for the app has solved a ton of the major problems I ran into in the old version, so that’s big. It’s a lot smoother on the interface, saving and set up on modes is a lot easier.

Latest Updates Make the App Great

The app has been much nicer to use after the 1.5.0 update, fixing a lot of my original gripes.

Then further, the 1.6 update added the ability to browse online commands and save commands online, now rather than looking up specific CC commands I can look for readymade commands on the app and skip straight to playing!

Update makes it much easier!!

It took me about five minutes to understand how to customize the midi controls with this new update. It’s very easy to use and makes it so much easier and seamless to have greater control over the BeatBuddy. Thanks for the amazing product that you guys have created!

A versatile controller with a great app

I did own the complete looper/drum pedal/controller suite but now only own the controller (MIDI Maestro). I have set this up as a controller for Bias FX amp sims and am waiting to receive an Eventide H90. This will be an excellent pairing with the H90. I will use a Boss dual footswitch to switch through the pages (banks) leaving all six buttons for labelled presets and with the H90 I am going to need a lot of presets. The app is very intuitive other than the portrait layout for the page. If the app could operate landscape with WYSIWYG the UX would improve no end.
Why only one previous review? Come on folks, give the MIDI Maestro some love here.

Much easier after 1.5 update

The app has been much nicer to use after the 1.5.0 update, fixing a lot of my original gripes. Good work singular sound!

Does not work

The UI buttons for the “main function” field are not visible, rendering the app useless.

You literally cannot use this to make custom user presets for the foot controller.

They have completely abandoned this app app. No updates , nothing has ever changed. I will be selling my midi maestro

Loop heaven!

This app makes it a no brainier to purchase the MIDI Maestro to use with the Aeorus looper. I really appreciate that singular sound continue to develop and extend their products through software updates and tools like this!

(Having said that, a native iPad app would be great!)

Missing the basic controls I need

This app has empty spaces where the controls I need should be. These controls are visible on the android version.

Don’t trust these clowns...

Their iOS app does not work and they will not admit that to their customers. The following is a conversation with their “support” team after months upon months of them promising a functional app:

Me:

I am a new owner of the Singular Sound Midi Maestro.

Why do things as simple as toggling commands not work in the iOS app? How long, realistically, do you estimate it will be before you have a working iOS app? Why has it taken you so long to address these fixes? Why do you think it’s okay to sell a product with a promise of a working app and then not deliver? Why are you not more responsive to inquiries about these issues on your forum? Please advise.

Hello,

While it is true that the the iPhone app is lagging behind the Android version, most of the features do work. You are correct that there are some important features (such as toggle) that still do not work, and we have yet to completely fix those specific issues, which we are working on. It is taking us longer than we expected to complete it, and I can find out for you a more accurate estimated timeframe come Monday/Tuesday when the programming team is back this week (today is Sunday they are not working today). I put a reminder and I will get back to you by Tuesday with an answer.

That being said, I took notice of your activity on the forum of blatantly attacking us personally (some of the stuff you wrote "i think these dudes might be clowns man" and similar verbiage in your other responses) and I have permanently suspended your account. You cannot log in anymore or respond on the forum. You are more than welcome to view the forum as a non-participant though.

They still would not even acknowledge that their app was broken! And haven’t communicated meaningfully with their frustrated customer base in months. Not a great company. Not surprising considering it was founded by a former failed “gunrunner” as portrayed in the film “War Dogs” . He had no problem defrauding the US govt with his “product” then and he clearly doesn’t have a problem doing it to customers now.

Custom Modes does not work

Firmware uploads and default loading to midi maestro works fine but building custom modes just isn’t usable on iOS, no templates function so you will need to build your custom midi functions your self however they will not work!! Which essentially is the point of this app..

Buggy

Tested on iPhone 10 with latest iOS and older iPhone 6 two versions back. Both will not display any symbols for sending commands out like via MIDI or BLE-MIDI as mentioned in page 45 or so of manual. Both do not display trash can / delete symbols, thus cannot delete commands nor configurations. Nor does not display current version at bottom of menu. So this is of no usage for intended purpose of controlling AUM on phone, as it cannot receive commands from unit.
