About
Karaoke with your own music. SingZ gives you synced lyrics, separate backing tracks and guided vocal training in one app. Mute the lead vocal, change the key to suit your voice, and practise singing with live pitch feedback.
Instead of one flat recording, a SingZ song has separate tracks for vocals,
drums, bass, guitar, piano and the rest. Mute the lead vocal and the band
plays on without you. Keep it in and sing along. Drop the drums to hear whether
you are actually holding time. It is your song, taken apart, with every part on
its own fader.
HOW SONGS GET HERE
Add one right on the phone. Pick an audio file from Files — your own recording,
something you bought, anything on the device — and SingZ takes it apart into
six tracks here, on the iPhone, with no server and nothing uploaded anywhere.
The first song you add downloads the separation model (about 136 MB, once), and
splitting needs a reasonably recent iPhone with enough memory; if yours cannot
manage it, SingZ says so rather than trying.
You can also prepare songs on a computer with the free, open-source SingZ
desktop app for Mac and Windows and read them here — over Google Drive, or from
a folder you copy across. Either way the result is the same six tracks.
If you have not added anything yet, the app ships with one complete song so you
can try everything straight away.
WHAT YOU CAN DO WHILE SINGING
• Six faders, one per instrument. Silence what you want to replace.
• Lyrics that light up word by word as the song plays — tap any line to jump
there.
• Transpose to a key that suits your voice, without the song turning to chipmunk.
• Slow a passage down without changing its pitch, until your mouth catches up.
• Loop the eight bars you keep fumbling, with a count-in that lights each click.
• Lock the phone and keep going. The song plays on, and the Lock Screen and
Control Center have play, pause, a scrub bar and ten-second skips — so the
phone can sit in your pocket or on the music stand.
Songs open in a moment: the tracks stream from their files as they play instead
of the whole song being loaded into memory first.
TRAIN YOUR EAR AND YOUR VOICE
Choose a guided program for foundation, developing or advanced ear skills.
Practise one lesson over seven practice days, or choose single notes, ordered
intervals, chord tones, whole scales and arpeggios. Hear each note, sing it, and
watch the live pitch meter and hold progress. Intervals repeat from different
starting notes so you learn the distance, not just one pair of pitches.
See sessions and exercises for each date, with consecutive practice days counted
once per day. Repeat a lesson and SingZ offers another key within your range.
Choose piano, electric piano, nylon guitar or organ; your sound and volume
settings stay saved across exercises. You can replay a cue, skip a note or pause.
Prefer listening? Identify exercises let you name what you heard. Practice stays
on your device; recording a practice sample is optional.
PRACTICE THAT PUSHES BACK
Training mode drops the tracks you lean on, on a schedule — every few bars, or
at the start of each lyric line. The backing vocal disappears and you find out
whether you knew the harmony or were following it. Turn it up as you improve.
LYRICS YOU CAN PUT RIGHT
When a word comes out wrong, fix it in the desktop app: type the real words,
drag a word onto the exact moment it is sung, or let SingZ line the whole song
up for you. The corrected lyrics reach the phone the next time it syncs.
OFFLINE, AND YOURS
Songs you open are kept on the phone, so the train, the car park and the green
room all work with no signal. Google Drive sign-in is optional: SingZ asks only
for access to files it created itself, never the rest of your Drive, and there
is no SingZ account to make. No ads, no analytics, no tracking — the code is
public if you would like to check.
Bring your own music. SingZ has no catalogue and no store; it works on the
recordings you already have.
