Good app, pair with Sinhala alphabet app if you want to read/write
It’s a good app, as a second gen. Sri Lankan trying to improve my speaking, it’s very helpful. I understood Sinhala before when spoken however couldn’t speak it myself nor read or write. This app helped me learn a bit more about sentence structure and proper pronunciation as opposed to layman grammar and terms, such as oya vs oba (informal “you” vs formal “you”). I needed to download a separate app for the characters however, I used “WriteSinhalaAlphabet” to learn the individual characters and sounds. When both apps are paired together, I was able to get better at reading Sinhala as well, slowly picking up writing now as well.

Really good, not too bad I’d say you need a little more expression other than that really good .
Helpful!
I have had the app for years and only study whenever I am on my way to Sri Lanka. On my last trip, people were saying how much I improved. My wife is Sri Lankan, but she says it’s too hard to pull me along teaching me Sinhala. Thanks to this app I am able to feel less like a foreigner when I’m there.

Very good app
It helps me a lot with memorizing
Really helpful
I downloaded this 3 days ago but have found it really useful for capturing good pronunciation and rhythm.
Buggy (I think)
I love this app however it’s a bit buggy
1. After downloading the upgrade I am now getting the wrong translation.
Fix: reboot
2. Voice record stop playback feature after a few uses.
Fix: TBD

There are some words that aren’t accurate but considering it’s free it’s pretty good.
Shame
Great at first but realised it doesn’t work for the words after the basic ones. All of the words translated are wrong
Love this app!
Works perfectly. The words are sticking and I’m hooked. Hard to find a good tool to learn Sinhala, this one is great.
Brilliant
I rarely review apps but this one is just so great.
Nothing fancy, but just really effective. The main mode is basically a type of flash card memorisation game, introducing new cards only after you’ve repeated the previous ones many times, and it really has worked for me.
I have an upcoming holiday to Sri Lanka and even with just what’s included in the free version i think I’ll be well equipped, as the phrases included are the ones I can imagine needing the most. Great!

Incorrect translations
We have shown this to Sinhala speaking friends and they laughed at the words used. Some are way too formal and never used.
Love
Love this app. Need more words! Possibly songs? Movies ..
Fantastic App/Married to a Sri Lankan
My husband wickedly never wanted me to learn Sinhala, and also showed no effort to teach our baby. He was unpleasantly surprised one day when he heard me accurately pronouncing the words to teach our daughter and by how many words I learned so fast.
The app by default, starts off with words I typically use most when meeting people who are native to this language (which I find useful.) It just seems like a great place to start.
Second, the best features are the speed adjustments you can make, in the speed of the voice, and when testing your knowledge - the speed of the next card to appear, you can make them slow, fast or whatever you like.
There’s also an option of how many words you want to set it to teach you everyday. This feature is displayed nicely at a screen which is easily accessible to adjust.
The price is also not so bad for the full version.
My advice for the developer is to put the settings button on each screen because it makes go too many screens back to get to it.
Second, please put the Sinhala alphabet, or else there’s no way to make sense of the words you have there in Sinhala letters.

It doesn’t have all the words
I tried looking for all the I need to converse bc I’m trying to learn Sinhala as Sri Lankan who doesn’t know it living in Australia
Would recommend
Really nice app, can go at your own pace and just all round good
Helpful
Good for a complete beginner as a starting tool
Impressive
Beautifully designed with excellent spaced repetition learning. Highly recommend.
Fantastic for beginners
I know a bit of basic Sinhala and have been trying to find an online resource to help me practice and improve. I tried a few apps but this one was by far the best! Simple, easy, and you can open a pack of new words every day. You can do slideshows to listen in the background or record yourself saying the words to check and also playing the words slowly. If you’re learning to read in Sinhala I think it would be a useful way to practice too because it uses Sinhala script as well as English (I’m not that far yet!) I would definitely recommend.

Dodgy app
You pay for the full version and never receive it. If I can give zero rating, that's what I'll give. Be careful, dodgy app stealing your money!
Good
I like how it repeats over and over and over as much as u like because this is a hard language for me. I also like the hands free and that you can see it written in English and Sinhala. I also like that it will still play even if you aren't in the app itself you can close the app and check email or something and it will still play!
