About

Sip is the wine rating and profiling app I always wanted: completely free, fully native, and built to feel fast. There’s no account to create, no subscription, and no web wrapper. Just rate the wines you drink, keep simple notes, and build a clearer picture of your taste over time. As you log more wines, Sip turns your ratings into an easy-to-understand personal profile. You can unlock taste summaries, track your structure preferences across body, acidity, tannin, sweetness, and oak, and spot the styles that consistently land well for you. Sip also shows your favourite and least favourite grapes, useful fun facts like your favourite producer, vintage, region, country, bottle, and drinking day, and a world map so you can see the regions you keep coming back to. Sip also helps before you buy or order. You can search for a wine, scan a barcode, take a bottle photo, or scan a restaurant wine list, and Sip will predict how much you’re likely to enjoy it based on your taste profile. Each prediction includes an estimated rating, reasons why it looks like a match, a confidence level, and rich bottle details like flavours, food pairings, structure, and map context when available. Whether you’re choosing a bottle in a shop, ordering in a pub, or staring at a wine list, Sip helps you answer one simple question: what do I actually like? With Sip you can: - Rate wines quickly and keep tasting notes - Search by name, barcode, bottle photo, and save wines with rich details - Build a personal taste profile with summaries that get clearer over time - See your preferences for body, acidity, tannin, sweetness, and oak - Discover your favourite and least favourite grapes - Track favourite producers, vintages, regions, countries, bottles, and drinking habits - Explore the wine regions you rate on an interactive world map - Use Predict to search, scan, photograph, and rank wines before you order - See flavours, food pairings, pricing, and other useful wine details when available - Export and import JSON backups, with iCloud keeping your library available when supported - Search across every wine you’ve rated Download Sip for free, start rating wines, and let it help you figure out your taste.

What's New in Sip

1.3.1

July 21, 2026

New - Added Taste Compare support so you can compare your wine profile with a friend's profile. - Added clearer persistence status for local and iCloud saves, so backup health is easier to understand. - Added backup import safeguards for very large files and unusually large libraries. - Added richer profile navigation so grapes, regions, countries, producers, and profile facts can take you straight to matching wines. Improved - Taste profiles now reuse shared derived-data models for more consistent grapes, styles, regions, and fun facts. - iCloud snapshot handling now reports unavailable containers and saves local/cloud snapshots more deliberately. - Wine search, save policy, and manual Vivino handling are more consistent across Add Wine, Journal, Predict, and Profile. - Region map lookups cancel stale geocoding work more cleanly. - App Store screenshots now show the refreshed eight-shot flow, including Taste Compare and menu recommendations. Fixed - Deleted wines keep durable tombstones so older synced snapshots cannot resurrect them. - Ratings are clamped consistently before saving. - Taste-summary animations now respect Reduce Motion. - Manual Vivino selections now keep cleaner display names from the page title when available.
