All-Timer

Must play for fantasy lovers. The setting, Glorantha, has been lovingly and diligently built since the 60s.

Addictive and compelling storytelling!

If you've never had a chance to play this series of games, grab your favourite beverage and hunker down (for at least a few days). Every decision you make has an effect on how you help your clan grow and thrive in this vibrant world.

Hard to not get enveloped in the lore, and the game keeps pulling you in to come back.

5/5 keep up the great work devs!

Thanks

Hey, I don’t think the creator reads these anymore, but I just want to iterate how much joy this series has brought me since I was a wee lad.

Since I was a kid I loved these games, possibly king of dragon pass most of all. I’ve never seen something like these done before or since. Very creative and inspirational! Almost wish I could give back somehow. Suppose I’ll have to by creating something of myself someday. Thank you and your group for being creators and for your work.

Mostly good a little bad.

This game probably is the better one then KODP but it is lacking a few charming features present in KODP. For example it was fun to distribute your acres between woodland, pasture and crop fields. Here all of that nuance is missing. Also the randomness in this game makes me so mad it can give me kidney stones. I liked the Iron Age Gauls/Anglos of KODP more then these Bronze Age Hungarians/Huns, although the Gods these guys worship are just as cool as Orlanth and gang. Finally the time scale in this game is very short. In KODP you could have played for a hundred+ years. Here it is less than 30 I have found. Years last longer in this game so you still play for a long time but maybe not as long as KODP.

Still combat is much better, seasons are now split into early and late versions which makes it easier to keep track of how much time you have, that makes years last longer. Spirits are a very cool addition. The dialogue options are much more wide ranging which is good.

The family system could have been better, unfortunately they don’t really effect the game beyond the events and bottlenecking your clan ring, making you have to choose one of each family, something that can thankfully be regularly ignored. I would like to have seen them presented as semi independent entities that you have to negotiate with. At least a single tab related to them would have been nice, which family has the most cattle, what family is related to which clan?

So basically, good game.

Lore valley

I adore the lore!

Once you surrender to the struggles of six ages, this trilogy begins to sing a song full of grace and authenticity. You get introduced to many gods whose names and stories evolve through the inhabited necessity of their existence for this world, by the peoples who strive within it. Each god is paradoxical since every culture views them from a separate lens.

There’s plenty of paradox, come get some, bro.

This is the sort of game which humbly demands that you see things from the perspective it provides, from your clans eyes.

And all the while, the dualistic nature of the why becomes ever more complex.

Brutal

Game is brutal even at easier level. Lots of nasty events keep happening that makes the game not fun.

Fantastic

New to this type of game, but absolutely loved it. Was glued to my iPad for days. Can’t wait to try Six Ages 2 and Kings of Dragon Pass.

Great game, perfect on IOS

Unique title that masterfully combines management, rpg, roguelike, chose-your-own-adventure, and strategy in an established heroic fantasy setting. Plays perfect on iOS. Has a phenomenal sequel (Six Ages 2) and an awesome spiritual predecessor that was already a classic back in the day (King of Dragon Pass).

Frustrating fun

It seems it’s an end game with almost zero chance to succeed due to fact you represent cults destined to be subsumed. So enjoy the ride, it is fun, but this is not a game about winning

this is an awesome game

this game I would highly recommend to those who enjoyed King of dragons pass. It is the sequel to the previous game. I like this game a lot. The music is beautiful, and it works well with voiceover.

One of my favorite games

Great lore with deep mechanics/system. Sometimes I don’t know what I am doing but enjoy the consequences. Have both King of the Dragon Pass and this game and spent hours and hours of fun. Will buy the sequel on day one if they ever release one.

Response from developer

Thank you! Unfortunately the game has over 468 000 words of text, so it is not practical to translate.

I keep coming back to this game

This game is unlike any other. Strategy and RPG in one - and a story to boot. Its also very replayable. Ive led (and destroyed…) dozens of civilizations.

I also love that wifi and a network are not required to play - so it works during flights and on subways, etc.

I only wish the sequel was coming!

Almost Perfect

First, let me say this is one of the best games that I’ve played. You basically play as a clan trying to survive in a fantasy world where your god has just been killed. The progress of your clan is extremely engaging and some of the events that pop up are really interesting (i.e., how do you handle having an ally clan that has accepted your religious revelation taking the position that non-believers are heretics and can be enslaved?).

But there’s one huge and pretty glaring problem. This is an extremely short game and it breaks my heart because the game length is artificial. Basically, the clock starts ticking once a single event chain, which occurs very early, starts. After that event triggers, it doesn’t matter what you’re doing or what you want to explore, once the event chain ends so does your game. This is extremely frustrating especially in the context of King of Dragon Pass which would allow you to decide when to start a Tribe (and thus start the end game). I feel like the game would be significantly improved if there was a way to allow players to determine when the end game chain begins (maybe when you’ve completed a certain number of rituals) but as it is, there’s no way to do this and it doesn’t matter what other event chains you’re in the middle of (and will never see the ending of) or if you want to play longer.

Response from developer

The game is about as many years as a typical short game of King of Dragon Pass. I understand that you want something even longer, but that’s not “extremely short” for most people (howlongtobeat.com says it takes 11 hours).

Very sad

Amazing game

Structurally, this game is sort of a hybrid between a strategy game and an RPG. I find that it's helpful to think of it more like an RPG myself, where you play the clan, rather than an individual character. Your clan has a destiny, which will lead you to riches and glory if you are strong enough to hold onto it, or will leave you forgotten and destitute if you don't.

Gameplay then, is about surviving and building your strength (especially in the strength of your leaders) long enough for your destiny to roll around, and in the face of inevitable hardships you'll find. The game does hide a lot of information from you: It's the sort of game that's much, much easier once you've beaten it once or twice already, which can be good or bad depending on what you like in the game. There's also a fairly significant random element. Even your best laid plans can fail, or your insane adventures succeed, if the dice gods favor or hate you that roll.

Nonetheless, I've spent hours and hours enjoying this game, and I really do think it's great.

Top!

So so

I found the lore way too confusing and long, it has a huge threshold to fully involve into the story. The game mechanics are unclear and very complex, not always clear on what to do to overcome a crisis. The randomized nature of the events and outcomes doesn’t make it clearer either. Despite their statement that there are many ways of playing the game, I found none (in this or previous game) where you could become an evil guy, siding with Chaos to twist your people, turn them to monsters to destroy all other clans.
