Skadis Click

Skadis Click is a metronome for people whose music does not sit in plain 4/4. Beats are counted in samples inside the audio render callback rather than by a timer, so the pulse cannot drift under load - and a tempo change lands instantly, without a phase glitch. In our own timing test the worst deviation across every meter, subdivision and swing setting is a single sample: 0.02 ms at 48 kHz. METER AND ACCENTS - Any meter from 1/2 to 32/16 - 17 ready-made plus a custom one - Four levels per beat: accent, normal, quiet, rest - set by tapping the beat strip - Grouping for odd meters: 7/8 as 3+2+2 or 2+2+3, with accents placed for you - The tempo unit is set apart from the meter, so 6/8 counts BPM by the dotted quarter RHYTHM - Subdivisions from eighths to septuplets, a different one per beat if you want - Swing from 0 to 100% - 66% is the classic triplet shuffle - A second layer: polyrhythm (3 against 4) or polymeter (an independent cycle that drifts against the bar), with its own timbre, level and pan SOUND - 16 timbres synthesised procedurally - no samples in the bundle, no bloat - Separate timbres for the accent, the beat and the subdivision - Level and pan per layer, so the main pulse and the polyrhythm can sit in opposite channels - Plays over your music without ducking it, and keeps running with the screen off PRACTICE TOOLS - Tempo ramp: +N BPM every M bars up to a target, with a there-and-back mode and a graph - Silence drill: the click drops out for N bars, or randomly mutes individual beats - Count-in before the start READING IT AT A GLANCE The dial shows the bar as concentric cycles: the outer ring is the beats, with dot size carrying the accent; the ticks between them are the subdivision; a separate ring is the second layer. Two progress arcs run on their own periods - in a polyrhythm they close together, in a polymeter the inner one visibly runs ahead. The beat strip along the bottom is for editing accents by touch; the rings are for reading from a music stand.
