Don’t use for anything important
While I love the design as someone who enjoys Frutiger aero and skeuomorphic design, this app’s fatal flaw is that it deletes ALL of your notes if you update the app meaning that if you use it for anything important, those notes will be lost. Kind of defeats the purpose of a note taking app if I need to keep backups in the default notes app.

Nostalgic
Finally, digital notes that feel real, I was tired of boring, white, flat backgrounds. This app brings back the classic joy of writing on a notepad. The skeuomorphic textures look amazing and make taking notes feel special again. Simple, nostalgic, and beautiful

Good skeumorphic implementation
SkeuoNotes is a good app that lets you go back in time and experience older design trends. The only issue, there’s an app that does this much better called Papertone. However the pros of this app are its compatibility with lower iOS versions, more flexible design and its lower price. In all fairness you’re not really in a bad place with this app but be aware that this developer also uses AI at least to some degree.

Raw but promising
I really like the concept of SkeuoNotes and the design is beautiful. The $1 price is fair, and if the app were polished and stable I think it could be worth $5 or more.
The problem is reliability. Notes apps need to be simple and dependable above everything else. Text selection is very buggy. Selecting a sentence often takes multiple tries, and selecting a long paragraph can freeze and stretch the screen, forcing you to start over. This makes everyday use frustrating compared to Apple Notes.
For notes, reliability always comes first. People will choose the ugliest app that works in critical moments over the most beautiful one that glitches.
One feature that would be delightful in the future is the ability to change the app icon to something closer to the classic Notes look. Small touches like that could make a big difference once the core stability is solid.
I am giving this 4 stars because I don’t want to sink a promising app with no reviews, but my score comes with the hope that the bugs get fixed soon. I’ll revisit SkeuoNotes in the future because I believe it has real potential to become one of the best notes apps on iOS.
