About
Self-help and nonfiction can make one useful thought last 300 pages, and by page 80 you are not improving yourself, you are being held hostage by a very polite man with a morning routine. Skip the Book is a book summaries app that reads the books so you don't have to.
Each book gets six chapters: the ideas and what it actually argues, what happened when real people tried the advice, B******t? and which claims are exaggerated, where readers disagree, what to actually do tonight, and the one thing worth remembering. Tap Give me the good bits to read only what matters in about ten minutes. You may remain a mess. At least now your failure is based on research.
Browse shelves for habits, work, money, relationships, time, health, creativity and more, or verdicts: Worth reading, One good idea, Overrated but useful, or Skip it. Browse by idea too, because the same handful of ideas keep turning up in different books, hoping you forgot you already paid for them.
Every line was read to a panel of ten ordinary people, and seven had to laugh before it was allowed in. Six laughs and the line died. Your last bad decision faced less scrutiny.
New books are added most days and appear on their own. Works on iPhone and iPad. No account, no emails. Written with attitude and a lot of swearing, because self-improvement is already the humiliating experience of becoming your own disappointed parent.
Your first three books are free. After that, a yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase unlocks the whole library, including every book added later.
Rated 17+ for a reason.
