Expansion update request

This app is our group’s go-to whenever we play Skull king, I was wondering if it’s possible to add things from the recent skull king expansion to the application. I’m not sure I would play skull king with its expansion without this app.

Zero bids don’t seem to be working right

I love the app but it doesn’t really work now because of this issue.
If someone bids zero and wins a trick it is supposed to subtract 10 points per card dealt that round.
I’ve found that it only subtracts 10 points per trick you have indicated that person won.
So if it’s round 7 and someone bids 0 and wins 2 tricks, they should get -70 points. But if I indicate they won 2 tricks they are only getting -20.
Uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it’s still the same. Tested over multiple cases and it’s the same every time.
Please fix it if you can.

Hello, I tested this and it is working as intended. Keep in mind the game mode you have selected as that will affect the number of cards dealt and thus the number of points deducted. In a standard game with no scoring adjustments, you can verify this is working correctly. If possible reach out to me via email or X and we can walk through this!

Yes it does? Zero bids are an integral part of the game and it would be quite obvious if it wasn’t working. I find most of the confusion people have with scoring come from misunderstanding the rule book. I’ve even received rule clarifications from Grandpa Beck himself. If you have doubts about scoring, you can contact him using the number in the rule book. He’s super nice!

Extremely useful app, with minor issues

We use the scoring app every time we play skull king and overall it works very well, unfortunately there are a couple of minor issues with scoring. On special games like skip to the brawl, the game miss-scores failed zero bid hands as -10 when it should be scoring them based on the number of cards dealt. The ability to manually adjust scores if needed would be one way around this, and would resolve some other minor issues.

It would be also great if the app could remember player names and historical scores for previous games.

Works week and intuitive

Works well and has all bonuses. It seems, though, that tricks won are only being scored as 10 points and not as 20 points.

Hello! Thanks for the review. Please note that tricks won are scored as 10 per card dealt when the bid is zero. That is intentional and in the rule book. If the bid is greater than zero, the tricks won are scored as 20 per card dealt, per the rule book.

Frustrating

This app worked perfectly for about 2 games while we were on vacation with friends. The next time we played, one person’s score was completely and obviously wrong on round 9. Last night on round 9 one friend’s score completely disappeared! The only thing it listed was her name! I really like the idea of the app and the way it’s set up makes scoring easy, but only when it works.

Great app

The best score app for skull king game. It just need to save names and add custom cards numbers and round numbers to be perfect.

If you want to stick to the game manual rules, this will save your time and mind doing the calculations.

Buggy scoring?

Just ran a game and in the final round a player bid correctly and got 30 bonus points, but the final scores gave them -30 for the round. Then the final scores screen showed gold silver and bronze colors for random players. Pretty bad first experience

Good at keeping score… but crashes a lot

It’s great at keeping score but it has no way to save games so if you go away from the app for more than a few seconds there a good chance it’s gonna close out your game right in the middle… which is beyond frustrating.

Life Changing

I don’t want to get emotional about it, but this game has changed my life in so many ways. It’s given my life more meaning, more joy, and more peace from my problems. The app really puts the “king” in Skull King, and makes the game so much more enjoyable. I am a physician and if there’s one thing that could cure depression completely, it would be this app.

Love the app but

Great app. However it needs a way to restore a game if the app suddenly crashes. Got through 8 hands and the app crashed back to the Home Screen. That was horrible. In a game that has 10 hands and takes about 90 minutes to play, there needs to be some kind of backup.

Easy Scorekeeping!

This app is fantastic for keeping score and avoiding all the math that previously took me at least 5 minutes between rounds. This helps with a much more seamless game play. It even allows for the Rascal of Rotan bid and loot earnings! The only thing I would love to see with this app in the future that it doesn’t currently offer is an option to save game progress in case we need to take a break in the middle of the game or want to see past game history.

Clean and Easy

Thanks so much for making this score card for Skull King! I love the clean and easy interface! It includes most of the options and info from the latest version of Skull King, the only thing it is missing is a way to indicate that the Kraken and/or White Whale are included in the game, and a way to indicate their use and scores in a round. I’ve read the Skull King rules and I understand adding these, especially the White Whale is easier said than done. It would be great to know if you plan to add those—perhaps the white whale could be a score override field, and the Kraken could be a “Kraken Played” slider at the top of each round? I will tip again for it! Thanks! (PS: I don’t have Twitter so had to request here.)

Hello! Glad you enjoy it! From a scoring perspective, the Kraken and White Whale do not effect the game. The Kraken just destroys the trick and no one wins it. The White Whale turns makes the highest numbered card win. If you play a 14, which comes with bonus points, you would still mark that bonus normally in the app. The other special cards like Loot, Pirates, Mermaids, etc. have a point bonus associated with them, while the Kraken and White Whale do not. This is why they are left off the app, but you can still play them and score the game correctly. Shoot me an email at zac@zcjhnsn.com and we can talk more!
