About

Slate is the movie companion app for cinephiles who take their watching seriously. Never accidentally start a 3-hour epic at 10pm again. Designed to work alongside Letterboxd and your other film apps, Slate picks up where they leave off, helping you plan, schedule, and manage your screenings with precision and intention. Planner Search any film and get the exact runtime. Set your start time, pick your viewing location — home or theatre, with time added automatically for trailers and adverts — and see precisely when your evening ends. Add it straight to your calendar with one tap. Now Watching Start a live countdown the moment your film begins. Film facts, a Dynamic Island timer, and a mini player so you never lose track. Roulette Can't decide what to watch? Add your watchlist and let Slate spin. Import directly from Letterboxd, iMDB, or your own list. Upcoming Track films you're waiting for. Get accurate UK and US release dates powered by TMDB, and set your own date when a regional release isn't confirmed yet. Programmer Know your window. Add your watchlist, see all the runtimes at a glance, and find the perfect film for the time you actually have. Your Ticket Every screening generates a vintage cinema ticket you can save or share. A keepsake for every film you watch, built for sharing. Film data provided by TMDB. Ratings and facts powered by OMDb.

What's New in Slate

1.3

August 5, 2026

1.3 is a big one with a lot of new ways to plan, collect, and share your screenings. • Letterboxd Sync - Connect your account and your watchlist flows straight into Programmer, Roulette, and Upcoming automatically. Films you log on Letterboxd clear out of Slate on their own. Once you finish a film jump straight to logging it on Letterboxd, with the date already filled in • Rip Your Ticket - Once you schedule a film, watch it print out on in screen and then tear t along the perforation when a screening ends to file it away • Wallet & Stubs - Every film you watch becomes a keepsake ticket stub, collected in your Wallet, with custom posters available for Letterboxd Patron members • New Scheduler - Available at the top of the main Planner page, keep track of all your upcoming planned viewings, at home or at the cinema • Share a Screening - Send a screening straight to a friend so they can add it to their own Planner and receive their ticket • A redesigned Live Activity - The films poster, a big glanceable countdown, and pause & resume, right on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island • Upcoming has a clearer layout, with custom reminders for when to book and set your usual cinema chain (or your own link) in Settings, and "Book tickets" on the Upcoming page takes you straight there • Stubs and scheduled screenings are now backed up to iCloud, so a reinstall won't lose them • Programmer - Has had a glow up and is redesigned to help you get the most out of your watchlist Fixes: • Pausing a film now updates everywhere at once — the app, the Lock Screen, and the Dynamic Island all stay in step, and your finish time adjusts to match • Lock Screen widgets show a bigger, clearer countdown while a film is playing • Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets update more reliably when screenings change As always, If you've got feedback or ideas, reach out any time at slate@deardarling.app
