Excellent 3D Video Synth

I’m a video artist who works with a lot of analog video synthesis hardware. Both for my own artistic practice and client work. It’s great to be able to have a 3-D, digital synthesis engine like vidOS with Mezzz available as another tool to add into the mix. I also love running Vid OS through a variety of LZX, BPMC and Syntonie modules for a warmer, more analog feel. I’m currently running vidOS on a new, 10th gen iPad and while the output is a bit choppy, I actually don’t mind it. Assuming it due to the iPad’s processor not being robust enough to render everything quickly enough. Regardless, great software/hardware combo. Here’s to hoping Sleepy Ron keeps developing video software and hardware for a long time to come!

So much fun

This and Ron‘s hardware video synth ‘Hypno’ are a dream come true. VidOS has 3D shapes but no way to save presets like on the Hypno, which makes it better than pretty much every other video synth out there. VidOS is still in its early stages but already super fun and stable on a 12” iPad Pro 2. It is also super easy to screen record sessions (with no daft burned in pull up bar on the IPP 12!) Now you can even use wired MIDI controllers!

Mezzzmerizing

Works great with the Mezzz controller, but make sure you have a relatively new iPad/iPhone model cuzzz she pulls alotta juice…

Kind of works with midi controller

I don’t have a mezz and wanted to try this with a midi controller but you can’t get rid of the info screen that pops up when you launch the app. I can manipulate shapes and colors behind it but it kind of ruins the experience of trying this out

Response from developer

Hello, thanks for trying out the app! The splash screen can be dismissed by sending any midi note message to the app. We hope that you enjoy the MIDI "test drive" and consider upgrading to a Mezzz if you like it! vidOS is specifically designed to be a combo with our hardware so without Mezzz some features will be unavailable. Also you may want to check out our recent Mezzz Demo Video that goes over the features and has a demo later on of using a 3rd party controller that can be found here: https://youtu.be/dzWRLWQJRaw Best, Ron  sleepy
