What's New in Slurp
2.0.5
October 17, 2026
- Play Text is now Slurp, made by Slop Agency, with a new icon. Same app, same settings. Only the name, the look and the address changed: slop.ee/goodies/slurp. - A Library: save articles, PDFs, Word and OpenDocument files, videos and podcasts to read or watch later, sort them into collections, and pick up on another device where you left off. Everything syncs through your own iCloud. - Documents keep their formatting in the reader: headings, numbered lists, tables, emphasis, links, images and footnotes. - Videos and podcasts play in the app, with the same player and lock-screen controls as a narrated article. Podcasts download when you add them, so they play with no signal. - Subscribe to RSS feeds and play a new item straight from the list, or save it to the Library. - On-device voices (Kokoro, KittenTTS and Inflect) that need no network and no API key. Each downloads from Settings when you pick it. - Apple's Siri voices can be used for narration, grouped by language in the picker, and so can the voice you chose in your device's Spoken Content settings, including Siri's newest ones. - The reader follows the spoken word more smoothly, keeps images, quotes and code blocks, and reads saved pages offline. - Links from X and Bluesky, plain Markdown, and direct links to a PDF or Word file save and read properly. - On the Mac, files can be dropped straight onto the Library. - Report a Bug in Settings sends a screenshot and the app's own logs, so a problem can be looked at without a description of it. - Fixes for memory use while idle, audio stalling between sentences, a crash when a synced item was deleted on another device, and a crash while feeds refreshed in the background.
