Developer is quick to address issues and feedback

Update: as the developer responded, all of my feedback has been addressed and was done so in a timely manner. I'm excited to give some of the recipes a go now that the instructions are complete and I can choose the amount to make.

I still have a wishlist of features, such as supporting different kinds of sweeteners as some people prefer one over another. And being able to modify recipes with alcohol to not have alcohol, as some of the recipes with it look interesting but it's not as simple as just removing the alcohol from them as that effects the freezing of the recipe.

——————————
Original: This app is basically ripping recipes from various websites and converting them to the size of machine you have. That's it. I was expecting a complete start to finish recipe helper, which this app is not.

For example, I put in my machine and it just adjusts recipes to the size of machine I have. Nothing more. Okay, but what if I don't want to fill up my machine? What if I only want to fill it to the minimum it needs to run? It also doesn't tell me what mode and speed/temp I need to set my machine to, which is where most people get tripped up with making slushies. This is because different sugar types and amounts will require different temps to get the desired slush consistency. So there is very little help from me telling it my machine and I was expecting a lot more. I would have expected there to be a team behind this app who is actually testing these recipes on the machines to get the proper settings needed, but doesn't seem like there is.

A lot of the recipes ask for puree, but there are no directions on how to make that puree. So again, not very helpful. Do I need to blend the fruit? Do I need to boil it or simmer it? How much fruit do I need to use to make the amount the recipe asks for? It tells you none of this vital information to actually completing a recipe. In fact, most of these are in the first step, so you really can't even get started on making a lot of the recipes. Another recipe calls for adding "Fresh mint infusion"...err, okay...but what the hell even is that? Has no instructions in the recipe on how to make this "Fresh mint infusion". Is it just mint leaves? Mint extract? If so, then why don't you just say that in the recipe? If it's something else, then I need instructions to tell me how to make this "Fresh mint infusion".

No way to convert alcoholic recipes to non alcoholic. There is also no way to hide them and they flood the app. So you click on a recipe that looks really good, only to find it's got alcohol. This would be fine if it was just a matter of not putting in the alcohol, but because the freezing of the recipe requires different temps and sugar mixture depending on the amount of alcohol, it's not that simple to do.

Makes me think this app is just a quick cash grab, potentially developed with AI assistance, as it's not really doing much more than converting the amount of ingredients needed to fill whatever machine you tell it you have. Then presenting that all in a somewhat pretty interface.

Since all it does is convert sizes, I will just stick to asking AI to do that for myself. This app needs so much more to be truly helpful.

1. True beginning-to-end recipe directions, like how the puree is made.
2. True mode/settings needs based on the machine put in.
3. Recipe and interface adjustments based on alcohol/non-alcohol preferences.
4 Tried and tested recipes, not just simple conversions of recipes found elsewhere on the Internet.

Response from developer

Update: Thank you for such detailed feedback. We took these criticisms seriously, and version 1.5.0 now addresses them directly. You can choose a minimum, recommended, custom, or maximum batch size for supported machines; see recipe-specific machine settings; and follow “Prep first” instructions for purées, syrups, infusions, and other components. We’ve also added alcohol preferences and alcohol-free filtering, plus clearer Tried & tested, Machine tested, and Editor reviewed labels so you can see the evidence behind each recipe. We appreciate you identifying where the experience fell short. If you’re willing, please try the latest update—we hope it’s much closer to the complete, machine-specific recipe helper you expected. ---- Original response: Thank you for taking the time to give such detailed feedback. You’re right that a recipe isn’t useful if it calls for a purée or infusion without explaining how to prepare it. You’re also right that selecting a machine should provide more guidance than capacity scaling alone. Slushable does rebalance sugar, alcohol and freezing point—not simply resize ingredients—and adapted recipes credit their original sources. However, if that value wasn’t clear or the instructions left you unable to begin, we haven’t made the experience useful enough. We’re reviewing the incomplete preparation steps you highlighted. Your comments also give us a clear improvement list: selectable batch volumes, better machine-specific settings, a persistent alcohol preference—not merely a filter—and clearer information about how recipes are tested and validated. If you’re willing, please email support@slushable.com with the recipes and machine model you used. We’d like to correct those specific gaps. Thank you again for the candid feedback.

It’s okay

It’s an okay app. Wouldn’t pay for it though, recipes are knocked off from other websites..too much AI.

Response from developer

Thanks for the honest feedback. Slushable does more than store recipes, and I’m sorry that value did not come through clearly. The main purpose is to help calculate mixes for a specific slush machine: ratio targets, Brix, alcohol, freeze point, and watery or over-frozen batch fixes. Saved recipes are there so you can keep what works, but the calculator and rescue workflow are the core of the app. Free includes one saved recipe so you can test whether it helps your setup before upgrading. I’ll also take this as a signal that I need to make that value clearer earlier in the experience. Thank you!

Pretty App

Found this app from an ad on the internet. It's a pretty app, but the calculator is pretty confusing. I'm also so tired of subscriptions, I'd rather pay once for an app than to have a reoccurring subscription cost. I can screenshot recipes or add them to the notes app for free.

I was excited to try some of the recipes, but then found out they were from other websites and have just been calculated down to an amount that fits in the slushie machine. Especially if I'm paying I like recipes that are tested and guaranteed to work. These recipes built into the app are like 8.1 ml or 5.5 oz. Nobody measures like that.

Response from developer

Thanks for trying Slushable, and I’m sorry the experience left you feeling that it was not worth your time. To clarify, the app is free, and we are not simply resizing recipes: Slushable calculates Brix, ABV, and freeze balance for the selected machine and batch, helping the mixture reach a proper slush texture. We credit recipes where they have a source, and show testing labels so you can see what has been machine-tested. You are right that the calculator and recipe quantities need to be clearer and more practical. That’s an improvement you’ll see in the next version of Slushable. Thank you for your feedback!

Finally figured out my Ninja SLUSHi

I kept ending up with batches that were either too icy or basically juice. This made the sugar/alcohol balance make way more sense, and now I can adjust before wasting a whole pitcher.

Response from developer

This is exactly what we hoped Slushable would help with. The sugar and alcohol balance is where so many Ninja SLUSHi batches go sideways, and it made our day to hear you caught it before losing another pitcher. Thanks for taking the time to say this. We'll keep tuning Slushable around those real batch-rescue moments.
