Sorry you feel this way. Phone number is used in account creation as a way to save/back up your recipe database to our servers so it can be accessed across devices or when you get a new phone. We’ll consider adding a mode that lets you forgo protection of your recipe database. Thanks for your feedback.

We use phone number login as a way to save you from having to remember a username and password. I’m sorry this caused you to not even try the app. Perhaps we should add a disclaimer to the description that the app requires phone number to save you from wasting time downloading it.
