My only complaint is that there’s no option for “live updating” if they add this feature i’ll update my rating
Not as good as it looks
There are a lot of filters but it’s very limited. Having only a single value per filter is bad design. I want to sort by date added and load within a date range but that’s not possible. Waste of money.

SmartPlaylist always/only works with date ranges. You can work with how many hours, days, weeks, months or years ago. You can use the operators < (less than), = (equal, within) or > (more than) x hours/days/weeks/months/years ago. Thus, you can for example say Added < 3 months ago (i.e. date range between now and 3 months ago, excluding all added 3 or more months ago). Added = 1,2,3 years ago (i.e. between 1 and 4 years ago). Added > 12 hours ago (excluding all added in the last 12 hours).

Bought it Twice
Returning to the Apple ecosystem and had to buy this app again because I couldn’t remember my old Apple ID. Well worth the money, this is a must have app for me, I love being able to create smart playlists on the go. The UI isn’t great but it works perfectly when you learn how to use it.

Fantastic smart playlist creator
App was exactly what I was looking for - a way to make dynamic playlists. Doesn’t take too long to learn how to use, operates very smoothly, and not buggy.

Was a great app now abandoned
This was my go to app for managing my music playlist. However the developer stopped updating and now after last 2 Apple iOS 14 updates now cause the app to just crash every time I try to load a list. Hopefully the developer will revisit and make fixes as this app allowed you to manage your loaded music in various custom lists with many options for filtering and sorting.

Please activate "Share With App Developers" in the "Privacy" > "Analytics & Improvements" settings. This might give me a clue about this crash on your device. Otherwise the current version of SmartPlaylist runs fine up to iOS 15, as far as I can see.

I love it!
Being able to create smart playlists on my phone is incredible, especially since you can’t create smart playlists on Macs anymore because of the lack of iTunes. I’ve tried a couple of different smart playlist apps but this is the only one that has the flexibility and scope of options that lets me create exactly the playlists I want. The UI is a little weird but it’s not difficult once you get the hang of it. If you want to create iTunes style smart playlists on your phone, I HIGHLY recommend this app!

Simply the Best
I have been using the App Store since it debuted, and this is the first time I have ever written a review. That is because this app is so good and so unsung that I want to do what I can to help the developer have more success. There is no other playlist tool available for the iPhone that is this powerful, this full featured, and this customizable. On top of that, the price is more than fair and there is no subscription, which is increasingly rare. The one thing I found lacking in Smartplaylist was the ability to save a smartplaylist as a playlist in the Music app. And now the developer has added that feature. He could not be making much money from this, yet he keeps improving it anyway. If there were a way to offer cash tips through the App Store, I would do so in a heartbeat.

Unique feature
This app does at least one thing others don’t: finds tunes that belong to two or more playlists (using the List Operation = field). Thank you, developer!

I really like this app and have been using it for years. It is an excellent alternative to the smart playlist capabilities of iTunes, since this actually works.
Recently I had a very minor issue with the app. The developer identified and fixed the issue quickly. Great support!

Bug fix (v12.1.5) is on its way. When now playing song is last in the list it crashes. Please use SmartPlaylist support mail address to report bugs (Menu > Help ...). Reviews are communications to other (potential) users, not to the developer. Kind regards

Hello You can put a limit of say 30 minutes or so in „Mix”, then it will stop playing at the end of the list after (about) 30 minutes. Or you can set a normal timer for xxx minutes and select "Stop playback" as end action (instead of an alarm sound, go to the very bottom of the list) Kind regards
You can also rate not playing now tracks
showing rating of each track in playlist and possibility to rate not playing now track is great also customizable playlist fields like add or remove comment field is awesome. Wish it had fav heart filter and showing also giving it too and possibility to edit some fields will be super.

Functional but the design and user experience could be drastically better. Just might make my own app like this.
Nothing More Powerful than this app
November 2018: I am wondering where did my older review has gone. Anyway, there is nothing more powerful than this app to find music from your library, and ability to sort by multiple parameters. Of course, this has a bit of learning curve, but if you are passionate about rating and finding music other than just by artist/album etc. in completely customized way that suits your mood and desire, this is perhaps the only app. I am surprised that almost all music playing app still rely on static playlist, while this app produces dynamic playlist on the fly unlike any other.

Great idea but interface is too hard
This interface feels like it was written by somebody who spends the whole day writing SQL queries. While there’s a lot of power here, it would take something like a short cuts/Workflow style design overhaul to make it useful for most people.
Like if it said could say “get all music” at the top, then you could drag in a filter of “from a decade” and choose 90s then drag in a filter “except one genre” and choose “electronica” - I know it’s a lot but at least people wouldn’t give up after looking at a bazillion options.
