About

Five minutes. That is the whole ask. Smidge teaches your dog one command at a time, in sessions short enough that you will actually do them. Watch a short clip, put the phone down, run the reps, mark it done. Most lessons take under a minute. WHY SHORT SESSIONS Dogs learn more from a few short sessions spread through the day than from one long one. That is not a productivity trick, it is the finding the whole app is built on, and it is why nothing here asks for half an hour. WHAT IS IN IT 29 commands and 101 lessons, each with its own clip. The foundations: Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Leave it, Drop it, Take it, Name, Paw, Place, Settle, Stand, Touch, Loose leash and Wait. The everyday ones: Watch, Heel, Off, Up, In, Fetch and Find it. And the ones that are just fun: Spin, Roll over, Bow, Back up, Middle, Chin rest and Quiet. SIX ARE FREE FOREVER Sit, Down, Leave it, Paw, Name and Come never cost anything and are not a trial. Come especially: a recall is the command that stops a dog running into a road, and that does not belong behind a price. HOW IT TEACHES Every method here is reward-based and follows LIMA and the Humane Hierarchy. Nothing in this app asks you to frighten, hurt, startle or physically force a dog, and no lesson puts your hands on a dog to make a behaviour happen. WHAT IT WILL NOT DO Biting, guarding food or objects, reactivity to dogs or people, and distress at being left alone are not training problems with app-sized answers. Smidge asks about them up front and routes you to a certified professional instead of teaching them. That routing is free and it does not unlock later. Smidge is training guidance. It is not veterinary care and not behavioural treatment. You know your dog and this app does not. NO ACCOUNT, NO NAG There is nothing to sign up for. Your dog's name and your progress stay on your phone. No streak guilt, no countdown timers, and nothing pre-ticked anywhere. SMIDGE PRO Length: 1 month, auto-renewing Price: $12.99 per month Pro opens the other 23 commands. There is no free trial, because the six free commands above are not a countdown to a charge and never expire. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless it is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it in your App Store account settings, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. What's New in Smidge

Reminders. One a day at a time you choose, and never on a day you have already trained or a week you have already finished. Nothing arrives until you allow notifications, and the app only asks after your first lesson. Why this works. The principle behind each lesson, folded under the steps and out of the way until you want it. Your dog's age now changes what the app says as they grow. Adolescence gets its note when it actually arrives, instead of once at setup. Cautions where a movement asks something of a body: an older dog's joints, a big puppy's growth plates. Never a lock, always a caution, and only where the app knows enough to mean it.
