Incorrect first aid

The first aid doesn’t even show compression of the tips of fingers therefore hugely ineffective and potentially dangerous

My favourite app

I use this app so much more frequently than I thought I would when I downloaded this app. The offline map pin-drop feature is incredible for when I’m out camping or travelling across the country looking for potential species to look out for. So cool to see what’s around, and see the distributions of species change as you travel along. And the field guide notes are great and accurate. Worth every cent. Would absolutely froth a Lizards of Australia app!!

Not working on a iPhone recently. Fantastic App when it works.

I used this app constantly before it stopped working on the iPhone, fantastic quick reference guide for local species and geographic range of different snakes. I seriously hope the developers fix up the glitch.

Crashes instantly

This app doesn’t open. Charges you 4.99 but it doesn’t work. If it isn’t supported, remove it from sale.

Compact, excellent text and photos

This is an invaluable guide to Australian snakes. Unlike so many field guide apps it is far more interactive than a pdf style copy of a book. Some snakes show so much individual and geographic variation, particularly Pseudechis, that there can never enough photos in a field guide. This app is full of superb photos with multiple shots per species, each attributed with the location and photographer. The distribution maps showing validated records and presumed range are excellent (despite minor quibbles with some records and ranges). There is a brief text statement of distribution beneath each map. A larger green dot shows your location, so you can see whether you are in the range. The text is brisk and to the point, often with a useful comment on taxonomy and ecology. Finally the comparative feature showing two species at once is very handy.

I don’t seem to be able to get the app to run on my iPhone 14pro max but it runs fine on my iPad

Searching the Map

A very nice and educational app. The only problem is you cannot search for a place on the maps, instead you have to try and locate it .... a search function would be useful. Overall a wonderful app!

too complicated

I found it difficult to identify a snake in my garden. I had to resort to google

Brilliant

This is a fabulous app!
You can see that so much work has gone into it and it is jam-packed with all the information you need.
It is such a pity that so many people feel only fear and repulsion over these beautiful and fascinating creatures.
Well done!

Very handy app

An informative app, great functionality, lacks iPhone X full screen support through. 5 star once that happens. 👍🏼

Response from developer

Thanks for the comment! The app has been compatible with the larger phones since the 1.1 update.

Perfect app. Very educational

Great app, probably worth $40 rather than 10.

Not sure what everyone's problem is? This is a great app! This is a succinct field guide that makes use of the i-device platform to provide numerous images of each species to show variation within a species. The high resolution photos are from some of Australia's best herp photographers.
The scale count feature is very handy when you've found a mashed roadkill or a slough. Beyond that, the "filter by location" function cross-checks your location (via iPhone GPS) and shows you only snakes that are likely to occur within your area.

A great app and cartainly among Australia's best field guide apps.
