Simple. And simply unusable

Heard great things about this app. Experienced none of them. Cursor doesn’t appear whenever I tap on a line. As far as I can tell, there are no folder systems. Having the H1 H2 H3 buttons seems like a good idea, but again can’t move my cursor around after pushing them. Thanks, but no thanks.

Response from developer

Hi, Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Regarding the cursor not appearing, this is not an issue with the app. The cursor functions exactly like standard iOS text apps—simply tap the text area or first line of your note and the cursor will appear immediately. This is the same interaction pattern used across all iOS text applications. Perhaps you had the preview enabled, which does prevent editing. Make sure the button in the top right of the app shows an eye symbol and not a document. This will ensure you are in editing mode. As for folders, this was an intentional design choice to keep the app focused and streamlined. Our approach has resonated well with users who appreciate the simplicity and speed this design provides. We’re confident in our design choices and believe they create the best experience for our users. If you have any other questions about the app’s functionality, feel free to reach out.

Cleanest notes app

One of the cleanest app that I have came across which does what it say. This completely free notes features full markdown that makes me enjoy creating my notes. Automatic sync via icloud is painless and pretty straightforward. Love the app. Haven't tried the mac version yet but excited to give that a try soon.

Great-looking app, but too many bugs.

I appreciate the developer making SnappyNotes available for free. However, the app is not ready for public use—it has many bugs to deal with, which is disappointing because the user interface is visually stunning. Additionally, there are a few design decisions (or omissions) that make it feel unintuitive. The following are a few observations:

1. The app opens with an existing note instead of the notes list screen where you can choose which note to see. In my opinion, the notes list should be the home screen.
2. It is unintuitive, kind of weird, having to tap on the list to enter a new note—that is where you find the new note entry button.
3. When you tap to enter a new note, the app presents you with (opens) an existing note. A bug, perhaps?
4. When you write a new note, sometimes it saves it, but most of the time, it does not. A bug, perhaps?

The app is young and has great potential. I hope these bugs and shortcomings get addressed soon. Until then, I am unable to use it.

Response from developer

Hi, I’m sorry to hear the issues you have experienced. We are of course committed to improving the user experience and truly care about user’s experience. I want to let you know that you can simply swipe left or right to navigate between notes, while if you try to navigate further than the last page, it even lets you create a new note. This means you don’t have to rely on the list menu. Regarding the issues with notes not saving, please ensure that you just wait a few seconds after finished typing to ensure the app has time to save. If any issues occur during saving or sync, they will of course be displayed on screen. I hope this helps you out and fixes some of the issues you experienced with the app. We’ll of course continue looking into improving the experience. In the meanwhile, can we recommend that you check out the desktop version of the app which is where our primary selling point is, with notes always accessible on the side of your Mac? The desktop app can be downloaded through our website snappynotes.appverge.net.
