SNAQ

No accurate enough. Sometime the system doesn’t get the right foods.

Unreliable - Underdeveloped

We are a newly diagnosed T1D family. I was excited to scan food and find trends and tips. With my first AI scan, it estimated 20 carbs for 3 grilled tenders and 20 carbs for a regular side of fries. This is gross incompetence… to the point where I feel like they shouldn’t offer this feature until it is more accurate. With that said, I thought I’d try to just type in foods. When I type “slim chickens fries,” it takes a minute to think and then a regular side of fries was way down at the bottom of what the search generated. Why would fried tenders be before fries when fries was clearly in the search field? I’m gonna try again today, but this is not quick or easy. It also took so many clicks to get anywhere in the app.

Great App

I would rate five stars but the only issue is that as a 15 year old, paying $50+ a year is a little steep but it helps me manage my BG so much better and helps me manage my food goals such as protein and fiber intakes.

Excellent app

I use SNAQ everyday for keep track of my diabetes glucose levels and meals everyday it works so well together and is a must have if your diabetic. Especially love the insulin features where I can add in both bolus & basal along with corrections.

Last Update Awful

App was good until the last update. Now it’s too hard to find net carbs. I’ll be looking for a replacement app

Photo recognition is off

Every time I take a picture of my meal for a carb count, the photo recognition is off! I think it would be good if that was fixed.

Great app

I am so thankful to have found this app, the AI coach has been a game changer for me! Some of the nutrition if requires double checking for me. I
make most of my own food, vs packaged food.
I am a Type 1 on a pump and have been 93%+ in range due to the help of the app and the ai coach!

Bait and switch

App world ok for about a day, then it stopped recognizing foods. Super clunky for entering ingredients. Dated updates and duplicated glucose entries. Then didn't let me cancel at the end of the trial period.

Best Food/Glucose monitoring app

This application does the job. Showing you glucose response to your meals and offering AI to assist with fixing your eating

Cost of app

Why is the cost hidden? The free trail of 7 days is not long enough to even get the hang of the app. Then the cost of $88/year, I just can’t. You can break it down to a couple of dollars a week, still the same at the end of the year. I’m retired due to disabilities including diabetes. I just can’t let myself get started in costly apps, even $88 helps with medical costs.

Excellent !

Would love widget for Home Screen.

Terrible update

The latest update has made this app almost useless. Can no longer easily find previous meals and it keeps putting the wrong time when I enter an insulin dose or a meal.

Learning

Not understanding how to separate meal entries

Rip off

Can’t do ANYTHING without a subscription. Worthless “tracker” that is ridiculously overpriced

Potential

I like where there is app is headed, it has the potential to be 5 stars but unfortunately being an Australian based user the food database is limited for anyone outside the US. For the reviewers complaining about the 7 day free trial and then automatic subscription they have failed to understand that if you subscribe to a 7 day free trial then go in and unsubscribe from app directly after you subscribed you still get to use the app for free for the 7 days without the fear of forgetting to unsubscribe before free trial ends. It’s not rocket science people!

Hi there, thanks for the great review and for having our back on how the free trial works! :) We hear your feedback on the Australian database, and we're continually working to add more local options and hope to earn that 5th star from you in the future!

Drastically improved my A1c

I used this app for 6 months last year and it helped to take my A1c from 7.6 to 5.3. I learned a lot about food and how each meal item affects my bs. I made tweaks and changes along the way to fine tune my glucose control. I took a break over the past three months to put into practice what I learned and was able to maintain my A1c at 5.6. I am back to using the app again to assist with weight loss and blood pressure goals I have set for myself. In doing so there are a couple things I do wish could be added and improved upon within the app. #1. I would like to see fiber per day/meal, maybe within the ‘Insight’ tab. Best I can get in the Insight tab is 1 week average. #2. Improve the photo estimates option beyond 3 items. My meal last night had 5 items (smoked brisket & turkey, collard greens, green beans & 1/2 Texas toast). It populates 3 items then gives suggestions on the remaining items to add. BUT when you add a suggested item it will delete a one of the three populated ones. Why not just be able to add the suggested item to the populated ones? I find this to be frustrating and don’t typically use this feature because of this. Beyond these two items the app is easy to use and I recommend it to others all the time in my online diabetes groups.

Nutritional values are not correct

I don’t feel I can trust this app to accurately count carbs. Most of the time I can’t find the food I’m looking for and when I do the carbs are often way off. I was really hoping this was going to be good since I thought I could match up my meals with the behaviour of my blood sugar to look for trends. But it’s not worth it if the nutrition information of common foods is unreliable or missing completely. I’d rather use this than Lose it but so far I’ve had to keep going back to that to find the carbohydrate information I need.

Response from developer

Hi Carly, thank you for the review. We are sorry to hear the nutritional values felt unreliable. We don't want you to have to switch between apps - the whole point is to allow you to see your glucose trends in one place! A helpful tip regarding packaged foods: If you find that a barcode is missing or the database values seem off, you can actually scan the nutrition table directly with the app camera. This reads the exact values straight from the package, ensuring the data is 100% accurate for what you are eating. We would still really value hearing which common foods you found to be inaccurate. Could you please reach out to us at support@snaq.io? If we can understand the specific items giving you trouble, we can share more tips or work on improving our database to fix these gaps for you.
