I paid for premium

The features I wanted were behind a paywall but I paid for them and so far I think it’s worth it. Other apps I tried didn’t have everything I was looking for.

Response from developer

Thanks a bunch for the five stars and subscribing!! Subscriptions fund development directly, they go straight into the next release (and my list of things to build is longer than I’d like to admit 😉) If there’s something you want to see in Sola, don’t hesitate to write at support@getsola.com. Again - really appreciate the support! 🙇‍♂️😎

Detailed & Customizable

The only sun tracker app that has enough detail and customization to actually be useful for Vitamin D. I do burn a little sooner than it says, but it's predictable. I just set my threshold a little lower and it works great. I love being able to see the average vitamin D over the last few months so I can catch myself bed rotting. I don't absorb supplements well so I have to do it old school. This app helps me get enough sun without overdoing it.

Response from developer

Thanks so much for the 5 stars 🙇‍♂️, glad Sola's helping you optimize how you get vitamin D from the sun. Sun-derived vitamin D lasts longer and also is self-limiting against toxicity in a way supplements aren't. But that has to be balanced against skin damage from UV radiation. That's really the core of what Sola's trying to do: help you hit the sufficiency window without drifting into overexposure. PS if you don't mind, I'd love it if you emailed me at support@getsola.com with more on the "burn a little sooner than it says" part. I want to understand where the MED estimate and your actual response may be diverging

Just what I needed for me and my family

I use this app to track the sun exposure for the family in outdoor activities.
Reminders to apply sunscreen and vitamin D tracker is great.
Maybe not what the app was intended for, as I get so bored sunbathing.
The only thing I would add is a family tracker, so I can input the skin type of family members, so we know what exposure other family members that are maybe not old enough to have a phone.

Will try the app for beach days in the near future! I have high hopes.

Thank you very much for the positive review! 🙇‍♂️ The family profiles idea is genuinely on my radar. Hope the beach days deliver 😉 ☀️ 😎

Only way I tan outdoors now

I am a v pale girlie. Living in Vegas I was tired of being the palest person I saw anywhere. I used to spray tan weekly but it was messy and got expensive fast.

I happened upon this app while looking up tanning tricks on Reddit. Since using it I am - no joke - 2 shades darker. I have only used it 3 times.

I decided to splurge and get the paid subscription. It’s worth it to me because I can add in flips with timers. I connect my phone to my speaker for music and the timer goes off through that.

All in all, great app. I am getting tan without becoming sunburned.

Response from developer

Thank you so much for the 5 stars! 🙇‍♂️ Glad Sola is working out for you, getting that color without the burn is exactly the app's purpose. Good that you're regularly changing sides, it gives each side a breather, not to mention a more even tan. Enjoy the Vegas sun! 😎 ☀️
