The perfect eclipse companion!

I was able to take amazing photos of the August 2026 solar eclipse with the app + camera filter! And the in-app timer was super useful to get ready for the different stages of the eclipse. My experience wouldn’t have been the same without this app! A big thank you to the developers 😃

Brilliant for automated totality

This app saved me! Took some super shots on my iPhone and the automated totality option was fab. It’s takes a range of pics every few seconds automatically. Leaving you to enjoy the moment

Super

Was able to take nice shots of the 2026 eclipse in Paris also using the protection layer on the camera. Good results and guidance thanks to the app 🌙

Bof

Je suis désolé, mais j’ai utilisé l’appli pour l’éclipse en Espagne et j’ai pris de meilleures photos en passant par l’appareil photo de l’iPhone.

Rubbish

Didn’t even slightly work. Only works if buy extra filter that it doesn’t mention obviously. Robbed

FAQ

What does Solar Snap do?

Solar Snap is designed to help you capture amazing photos of the sun, especially during solar eclipses. It works with a special camera filter to protect your phone's lens and includes an offline simulator with detailed information and timings for global solar eclipses.

How does the camera filter work?

The app is designed to be used with a physical Solar Snap filter kit or a DIY filter made from old eclipse glasses. This filter attaches to your phone's camera lens, protecting it from damage caused by the bright sun and enabling you to take clear, safe photos.

Is the eclipse simulator accurate and offline?

Yes, the app features an interactive, offline global solar eclipse simulator. It provides detailed information and precise timings for upcoming eclipses, ensuring you can prepare and plan your viewing and photography, even without an internet signal.

What are the upcoming eclipses mentioned?

The app highlights upcoming total solar eclipses crossing Europe and the Middle East in 2026 and 2027. It aims to help users prepare for these significant celestial events, regardless of their location.

Is there a cost to use Solar Snap?

Based on the provided information, the app itself is free to use. However, it is designed to be used with a physical Solar Snap filter kit or a DIY filter, which would be a separate purchase.
