Price frustration

I love this app. As a mom of 4, and a home visiting baby nurse this is a great resource to help parents with fears and concerns of starting solids. I am loving being able to track my foods. BUT, now I can’t track anymore or do anything unless I pay $99 a year, that’s insane!!! I’m so frustrated because I just want to track foods & keep my baby safe. Also want to use it to help my mommas that I’m teaching.

No Point

There’s really no point in having this app unless if you’re willing to pay for it. You get no access to marking things as favorites or that your little one tried a food, the guides are locked except for a few, and every recipe is locked. I heard this was such a good resource to have and that the paid version isn’t necessary, but turns out, in order to have said resources, you have to pay.

Not accessible with screen readers for the blind

Please could you kindly work on your app, so that it is accessible with screen readers so that blind parents can take full advantage as well?
Thank you very much.

Can’t use without paying.

This app would be great if it wasn’t $100. They get you by showing you all the things you can do with it but you can do nothing without paying as if everything for your baby didn’t already cost enough. Just charge up front instead of the sneaky nonsense.

£20/month is way too expensive

Great app, lots of good info -but lots of additional features that I do not need. So not worth £20 a month. I can buy so many books instead… if it was half this I would have subscribed. The developers need to rethink the price.

Videos not Playing

I bought the yearly subscription today and the videos would not load for me. I have tried to troubleshoot the problem by logging out and deleting the app, but the videos still aren’t playing. Nothing happens when I click on them. I have to use the web version to get any of the videos to work.

Food Information Great, Recipes Not So Much

The guides and how to serve information are great and very helpful. Unfortunately I’ve tried numerous recipes for them to not turn out. The directions aren’t clear resulting in wasted time. I would recommend finding another app if you want recipes to feed your baby.

Bug that deletes an entire day’s meal plan

There is an infuriating bug where if you add a food (it doesn’t seem to matter what food, it just happens sometimes) to a day on a meal plan, that food will be added to that day but it will delete every single other food you put on that day. It will even do it to as many days as you add that food on. So, if I put yogurt on every breakfast for a given week as the very last food added onto a meal plan, there is a chance that it deletes literally EVERY. SINGLE. THING. that isn’t yogurt. Pleeeeeeeeease fix this!!!!!!!

Fix UI please

I love this app but would love even more if I wasn’t constantly getting logged out! Please fix so if I sign in with the wrong method (i.e, apple ID instead of Google) i can easily sign back out instead of having to delete and redownload the app!!

Price change

Paid less than £10 for a year 2.5 years ago while weaning my son. Won’t use this time, unsure how they can justify such extreme price increase.

Poor functionality

I have the paid version. I don’t think it was worth it for me. There needs to be a feature to permanently exclude foods and recipe suggestions for dietary requirements. There does not seem to be any link between the “next foods and meals” function and the “meal plan”function. Allergen recording is also clunky. I can mark that baby has tried an allergen but it still shows up on the allergen page that baby needs to try it.

That said, the free content on how to serve foods is invaluable. I just wish the food recording function and planning function were better.

Peace of mind

I love this app! I’m on my second kid and second time using this app. It gives me such peace of mind knowing I can figure out the safest way for my kid to try new foods.

Feeding with Confidence

I have used solid starts to BLW for both of my kids and havent found another app like solid starts that i have enjoyed. Its super informative everything is together and its really easy to navigate. I always recommend this app when chatting with another parent about solids or BLW.

Why is every app a subscription?

What was wrong with an app that just offered helpful information for free? The payment isn’t modest either. It was pretty pricey. Not worth it

Glitchy app doesn’t work.

This app is buggy, to the point where none of the features that they’re charging $20 will even load when I open or refresh the app! The only help you get is an FAQ saying to delete the app and try again lol. Deleting your account won’t work either. You just get redirected to the website, and told to “fill out a form” that doesn’t even exist.

You have to pay for everything.

Can you say price gauge

I’m so confused. I loved this app for my first child and when it was $9.99/year. I understand inflation, but $99.99/year!?!?! Absolutely not. That’s awful for mothers just trying to learn how to best feed their babies.

£20 a month

Can’t do anything on the app unless you pay £20 a month, waste of time!

Way overpriced for what you get

I never write reviews, but today when again I couldn’t find a basic food in their database I felt forced to write this review! This app charges 100!!! $ a year and doesn’t have a database of many many foods, forcing me to google most of the foods I feed my daughter anyways, so I might as well not have the app altogether. Additionally it does not let you create your own meals for the baby so you can add those easily to the log. I think a huge part of BLW is that babies eat at the family table and get introduced to “adult” foods in a save manner, but good luck finding those in the app… the only reason I give 2 stars over 1 is that their customer service is very nice and helpful

Not a good free all

Everything is mostly paid guidance. Very little info added on free version. Felt misguided.

Response from developer

Hi there! Wanted to clarify that our popular First Foods Database is free. When the paywall opens, you can simply click the “x” and navigate to the “Foods” tab to access the free database. Here you can find nutrition, choking, allergen, and how to prep info for 500+ foods. Always happy to hear more at solidstarts.com/contact 🤍
