Good app
This app is much better than it used to be and I’m thankful they made changes. Seems like the news and circulation teams are more responsive to questions and concerns, too.
Excellent App
Yes, you need a paid subscription for the app to read full articles. I love that I haven’t encountered any cliches, no freeze ups. I get a paper copy also so I compared this online version to the hard copy. You get more photos online making items more interesting, IMO. Now with the app I don’t have to login each time I want to refer to an article like on my laptop. That was frustrating. I downloaded the app and like magic, without me logging in, the app was fully operational. Perhaps it’s fingerprint friendly. 🤷🏽♀️
I understand that newspapers are not free. Users or advertisers have to pay since the workers have to feed their families too.

Why would I pay to view local news when I can get it for free on other sites.
Requires Subscription
I've lived in other areas where local news organizations provided news updates at no cost. This app only gives a one-liner unless you have a paid subscription. Don't bother downloading unless you already pay for the local newspaper.
