About
You arrive with a feeling. You leave with chords you can play.
Pick a mood — melancholic, britpop, 90s rock, dreamy, defiant — and Some Might Play gives you progressions that sound like it, in any of the twelve keys, with real fingerings for the guitar and a loop you can hear while you write over the top.
WHAT IT DOES
• Moods to progressions. Sixteen moods, fifty-seven progressions, each stored as roman numerals so it transposes to any key without losing what makes it work.
• Real fingerings, not pictures. Open shapes where they exist, movable shapes everywhere else, left-handed for free, and every position of every chord.
• Capo advice. Bb F Gm Eb is four barre chords. A capo on 3 turns it into G D Em C, and the app spots it and offers the swap in one tap.
• Hear it. Progressions play back as a looping guitar part with six strumming feels, a tempo you set, and an optional click.
• What to solo with. The scales that fit and why, drawn on the neck by scale degree, with the note to aim for on each chord and the ones to hold through a change.
• Tools that stay free. A chromatic tuner that works in a room with noise, a metronome, and a game for learning the neck.
• Write your own. Pick a key, add a chord, and get ranked continuations with the reason each one was offered. Save what you write, keep favorites, chain progressions into songs.
PRO, BOUGHT ONCE
• Drums and bass under any progression, in six styles, following your chords, your tempo and your key, with a mixer.
• Solo mode: a solo written over your progression, scrolling past as live tablature with the neck lighting up underneath. Hear it, slow it down, mute it and take it over.
• Every position on the neck for every chord, its triads, and where it sits as a CAGED shape.
• A one-page chart you can print or share as a PDF, in black on white, made to sit on a music stand.
• Save your own progressions, keep favorites, and arrange them into songs.
No subscription. No account. No advertising. Nothing is collected, and the app has no network code at all: the chords, the sound, the scales and the charts are all made on your iPhone.
English and French throughout, including every mood and every progression.
