About

A melody pops into your head. You stumble on a guitar riff. You start playing and singing whatever comes to mind. It might never come out the same way again. SongPieces is a songwriting app for capturing ideas the moment they come, splitting them into sections, and retaking just the parts you want. Whether you write with a guitar in your hands or collect melodies and riffs for your band, keep the spark as it is, grow it into song pieces one take at a time, and piece them together into a song. - Record Capture a vocal, a riff, or a whole jam with a single record button. Recording keeps going with the screen off. Record along with a metronome (type in the tempo or tap it), and the piece keeps its tempo. You can also import recordings from Voice Memos. - Split into sections Add section markers while it plays and name them Verse, Chorus, and so on. Cut the parts you don't need. - Retake any part "Just the chorus, one more time." Retake the part up to where you stopped, or a section you choose. The few seconds before the part play first, so you can come in naturally. - Compare and pick Listen to the original and your retakes on their own or in context, and play the piece with your picked takes swapped in. Mark the ones you want to keep as favorites. Slow down or speed up playback from 0.5× to 2× without changing the pitch. - Overdub Listen to a piece with earphones and record harmonies or guitar on top. Overdubs play along with the piece, and you can stack as many as you like. Adjust volume, mute, or fix timing. - Keep your pieces organized Filter with four ratings (Not usable, Maybe useful, Like it, Love it) and tags (Vocal melody, Riff, Chorus idea, or your own). Play any piece right from the list to remember how it went. - Gather pieces into songs Verse ideas, chorus ideas, a version from another day: keep the pieces that belong together in one song. With Record Another Version, you can play the original back, then record the whole thing fresh. - Piece your song together Line up whole pieces or single sections in any order and play them through. Join a verse and a chorus you recorded separately to hear the song take shape. Your picked takes and section edits carry over. - Send to Logic Pro Export as WAV (48 kHz, 16-bit): the version with your picked takes, each take as its own file, each overdub lined up with the piece, and your pieced-together song as one file. They reach your Mac through iCloud Drive. Drag them all into Logic Pro to get one track per file. - Send to friends Share pieces and songs through Messages, AirDrop, email, and more. Include sections and chords if you like: friends who use SongPieces can import them as they are, and anyone else gets a regular audio file. - Your data stays with you Recordings are stored only in your iCloud Drive or on your iPhone. No account needed, and no ads.

- Overdub: listen to a piece with earphones and record vocals or guitar on top. Overdubs play along with the piece, and you can add as many as you like. Adjust each one’s volume, mute it, or fix its timing. - Logic Pro exports include each overdub as its own WAV, lined up with the piece. Pieces you send to friends and songs you export include your overdubs in the mix. - Type in the metronome tempo.
