What's New in Sonidata

1.5.6

May 14, 2026

This update adds Voice Slate for descriptions, fixes metadata handling for external recorder files, and improves recording reliability. Voice Slate for Descriptions You can now dictate directly into the Description field using Voice Slate, the same way you already dictate FX Names. Tap the microphone icon next to the Description field and speak — your words are transcribed and inserted automatically. Available for Pro users. External Recorder Fixed an issue where the microphone name was not saved when editing external recorder files. The microphone field now correctly persists whether you're editing a single file or applying metadata in batch. Recording High-Pass Filter is now available across all recording modes. Choose a cutoff frequency from 20 to 250 Hz and a filter slope from 6 to 24 dB per octave to remove low-frequency rumble (wind, handling, traffic) during recording. The filter applies to both monitoring and the recorded file. New Mic Setup Help sheet guides you through configuring M/S microphones like the Shure MV88 for optimal stereo recording. Stability Fixed audio scrub not resuming playback after releasing the slider. Fixed selection checkmarks being invisible in dark mode. Fixed swipe-to-reveal edit actions being blocked when a file row was expanded. Questions or feedback? Reach us at sonidata.info@gmail.com

User reviews

Almost there….

Update 2026-04-04 - Many thanks to the developer for a quick response, and clarification of the import capabilities through the share sheet. I’ve updated the review to 4 stars, as I do like the app. Will continue to test, and consider a purchase……..

No import capability. Would be nice to keep a library of my recordings from other devices. Apparently one can only record into this through the iPhone. Too limiting. And pricing is a bit too steep at $24.99. Sorry!

Response from developer

Hi there! Thank you so much for your feedback. I wanted to follow up and let you know that you actually can import your existing library! Just use the iOS Share sheet from your iOS Files app (or any other audio app) and select Sonidata to bring in recordings from other devices. Additionally, you are definitely not limited to the iPhone microphone. Sonidata fully supports external microphones and audio interfaces connected via USB-C or Lightning, allowing you to capture high-fidelity, professional audio on the go. Regarding the pricing, Sonidata is tailored specifically for professional sound designers and field recordists. I decided on a one-time purchase so that you get access to a reliable, without being tied to a monthly subscription model.
