No option to limit octaves
Would never recommend this app. To have up to 5 octaves off every degree is ridiculous. Will just make you feel bad about yourself. Whoever makes this app is too rigid in believing that every degree is a “feeling”. As a user you should have options such as less octaves and work your way up. I asked for a refund after 3 days and they won’t give me money back. They obviously do not stand behind their product.

A workout and a meditation
This is such a well conceived app it allows fine tuning of tasks and the experience is blissful and calming especially with headphones. It concentrates on the emotional colour of notes to aid perception. Worth every penny.

The best ear training app I’ve found. Intuitive layout, comprehensive, enjoyable way to learn, and no glitches. I practice now everyday as it makes ear training fun and rewarding. Appreciate the various modes from single pitch to vocalizing which helps expose any area that needs improvement. Thank you!

The best ear training app
I’m a jazz student and I was struggling with ear training, dictations. Sonofield appeared as a magical tool for me. It helped me « FEEL » the music, intervals, etc., rather than having a reference song (which takes more time to identify the note). I pair up the « Sonofield » app with the « Functional Ear Trainer » (also a free app that’s a great complement) and my ear has tremendously improved. Thank you Max 🙏

Loved the app just a request in my pov there should be a option for choosing how many octave we have to practice like choose between 3,4,5 or all individual it will help ear to understand the individual octaves and their sounds

Sonofield is an outstanding ear training app that I use almost everyday. The vision and execution of this app makes it an elite ear training tool for people serious about improving their ears and ultimately, serious about being a musician.
Great app
So impressed by this app. I’ve been making more progress in the last month on ear training than in the last ten years. It would be good to get chord recognition in there too. Though maybe that will come naturally as my ear improves? I’m not sure.
Brilliant Design
This app has helped me improve my ear. Its’s beautiful design is intuitive and effective. I love all the different modes. Pocket mode is especially helpful. The stats show me exactly what I need to improve.

Tricky at first but in a surprisingly short time it’s helping me clearly identify note separation.
You can tell the developer has put serious time and care into both the app and the accompanying videos. The teaching approach feels thoughtful, practical, and genuinely effective.

Profound Improvement In Developing My Ear
Using Sonofield has improved my ear more than any other app/program/tool that I have used. I honestly can’t believe how much my ear has developed. I perform weekly and I have had a much easier time and have been so much more comfortable navigating the improv parts of our set since using Sonofield. Thank You!!!!!!!

Promising idea, but missing a crucial feature
For someone who has a really awful ear and wants to improve, I loved the idea of this app dove in and bought lifetime access right away.
But there’s a major flaw: it is impossible to set the training to just a single octave. You are forced to work across a minimum of 3 octaves right off the bat. I understand maybe that’s part of the maker’s philosophy, but…
It’s a huge design flaw.
It’s just not beginner friendly. For someone like me, even learning to identify intervals within a single octave and getting them right would feel like a major win. Instead, this app feels like it’s asking me to consistently sink balls from half court when I can’t even dribble.
Otherwise very slick execution and cool concept. But I can’t get much use out of it. If they ever update this feature, I’ll come back to it.

The best ear training app
By far my favorite ear training app because doing the exercises is fun and they give you a clam, meditative vibe!
I want to suggest two new modes:
1. Tonic recognition: The app plays a snipped of a song and then the user needs to sing back the tonic via mic.
2. Melody mode with musical context: The app plays a melody accompanied by other instruments. This should more accurately simulate real life music

The app completely fulfills its purpose which is to be the absolute best tool for those who want to improve their note recognition skills.
It lets you have a taste of how it works and you can then upgrade to the pro version which is priced fairly I think taking into account that it is an ever evolving app and that the developers take into account the user’s requests,
gotta love it.
