HOw to rule out Blind people

most dating apps make sure it’s too hard for disabled people to participate, so this isn’t unique. You certainly aren’t going to meet deaf people, but as a Blind person, I thought this would be great. For once I’ll get to see who I’ll meet without having to worry about what they see in my photos, or having to evaluate theirs. Alas, they made it so that Blind people using VoiceOver, the Apple screen reader, can’t sign in at all. I cannot get past the requirement to enter my birthday as the whole screen is not readable to me and any attempt to just type my bday fails. So, y’all who pass this way, I guess you don’t have to worry about blind dates.

Thank you for calling this out, and I’m sorry we prevented you from creating an account. Version 2.0.02 includes proper labels for all inputs and controls, and the birthday step should now work with VoiceOver. We also want Soulmate to work for Deaf and hard-of-hearing users. The experience is currently voice-first, but we have ideas for an accessible option in the future. If you still have trouble after updating, please email support@smalltalklabs.com.

I thought it was gonna be free after I put in all the info it asks for, but you need to pay monthly/yearly to use it. I’m sure it would’ve been a great app otherwise

Good concept and design, poor execution

Great looking app and good idea in theory. A lot of upfront work, the app asks for you without presenting much for options. Seems like you’re speaking platitudes that wouldn’t necessarily be considered in a real date. Once you’ve filled out info, maybe a potential match every few weeks (giving a pass on this since it’s a new app), but I felt it was matching based on values/personality vs looks. Values and personality don’t matter if you aren’t attracted to the other person. It’s blunt, but the truth! If the app can fix that, I’d happily revisit!

Try it, it’s worth it.

If you are single and burned out from swiping, you gotta try just one more app. I was skeptical that it was going to be like other AI dating experiences I tried, and it’s totally different. It ask you questions like therapist getting to know you, and then matches you slowly as other ppl engage with the app. It almost feels too easy, compared to all the time I put into other dating app profiles, but the match results speak for themselves. Try it.
