Difficult app
Half the time you cannot find how to get back to the main menu to turn off the Sound Bar. This app has a mind of its own. Very difficult to navigate. Garbage.
Switching between devices and other things a bit clunky
WiFi hard if not impossible to connect.
What is the point…,
of having a firmware update facility built into the app when is constantly fails to update. No pc to download firmware onto a usb stick and update manually - then tough as you won’t be able to update the soundbar past the version it was built with! Very disappointing from a big brand.
Never Connects
I’ve tried multiple times, over the last 2 years, and the apps never work. Ys209. Just tried again (bar won’t turn on w tv anymore, so need the app to try to fix since no on screen menu)… and it requires me to connect to a WiFi network, before it will open fully. No option for using cell phone data, even if I have my WiFi & hotspot enabled. It just never works.

Disappointing
I’ve bought 5 of these yamaha soundbars to minimise the number of apps I need to use. Rarely are there updates, the devices continually go off/ reset and I have to add them back as new devices and the UI of the app is weak at best. Being a lifelong Yamaha user and customer, it’s very disappointing.
Constantly turns itself off
What a terrible app and terrible product. This ting turns itself off suddenly for no reason while watching all the time

Love the TRUEX50AC and the apps control .. Yamaha are the best I’m a maniac for the brand especially their guitars RGX is the best but that’s off topic.. good app
Limited functionality, difficult to navigate.
A really rubbish App. Really difficult to navigate back to home page. And has very limited, basic functionality. For a soundbar that cost almost £1k, I expected much more from Yamaha.

The small blue tooth speakers don’t have fine enough volume control. I you are using the setup in your bedroom you the small speakers dominate the output if they are closer to you and you cannot hear the soundbar. Overall sound is good.
Alexa not compatible
Tried to pair over and over and over again and it just won’t work
Idk if everyone else is having this problem but it would be just so much easier if I could control with Alexa and not the outdated remote

Limited Soundbar Controls
It wouldn’t be nice to have extra controls for tremble and bass or even full equalizer like in other apps. Pre set modes are very generic and give flat sound.
It works
The app works with the soundbar. So that’s 3 stars. But overall a pretty bottom level app coming from a large company. I think another $20 investment would go a long way with how minimal and old this app feels.
No landscape mode on iPad
Hundreds of millions iPads are used in landscape mode and this app doesn’t support landscape mode.
Practically Unusable
This app worked only intermittently on my Unifi network. Exposing more of the setup to more advanced users would aid greatly in troubleshooting.
Works but…
The interface has a lot of odd and frustrating elements and could use to be simplified. It works well enough otherwise. I’d like to see a lot more granular adjustments to settings as well including easier ability to disable the auto shutoff.
