About

Sound Meter keeps a calm, dated record of the noise you live with: footsteps and thumping from upstairs, music through the wall, traffic late at night. Instead of a bare number, every reading is compared with a reference you choose, for the time of day. HOW IT WORKS • Listen – the level is averaged minute by minute and shown next to your day or night limit. • Record when it happens – one tap, from any screen. • Tag it – footsteps, thumping, furniture, music or TV, voices, pipes, construction, traffic – and add a note. A CLEAR REFERENCE • The Korean apartment noise standard is built in: 1-minute averages, day 39 / night 34 dB(A), peaks counted only at 3 or more per hour. • Or set your own day and night limits and your night hours. • Each entry shows whether it was within, close to or over the limit, and by how much. YOUR NOISE NOTEBOOK • Entries grouped night by night, with time, length, 1-minute average, maximum, tags and note. • Filter by over the limit, night or tag, and search your notes. • Keep the audio clip, or turn audio off. A REPORT YOU CAN SHARE • Choose a date range for a summary, per-night counts and the entries over your reference. • Share it as text or export CSV for your building manager, landlord or a mediator. • Patterns show the loudest hours and weekdays, and the sounds that come up most. HONEST ABOUT ITS LIMITS • Check your phone's quiet floor. Readings it can't measure reliably are marked, not judged. • A phone is not a certified sound level meter; results vary by device and placement. • Reference values are for comparison only and are not legal advice. ALSO INCLUDED • dBA / dBC / dBZ, Fast / Slow and calibration • Octave spectrum and noise exposure under "More detail" • A dark theme made for night use, and tablet layouts • Sound levels and recordings stay on your phone unless you share them • Free with banner ads; a one-time purchase removes them

What's New in Sound Meter

1.4.0

October 7, 2026

A new Sound Meter: a calm notebook for neighbor noise. NEW • Compare with a reference: the Korean apartment standard, or your own day and night limits • 1-minute averages and a per-hour peak count, measured the way the standard defines them • A trace with your limit drawn on it, instead of a gauge • Save sheet: tag what it was (footsteps, thumping, music…) and add a note • Notebook: entries grouped night by night, with filters and search • Report: per-night summary, share as text or export CSV, plus Patterns • Quiet-floor check, so readings below your phone's range aren't judged • Optional gentle alert: a single vibration when the level goes over IMPROVED • Three tabs – Now, Notebook, Report – and a record key that works from anywhere • A new look, with a dark theme designed for night use • A short welcome; ad privacy choices now come after it Your existing records and settings are kept.
