Amazing app for kids with ASD
Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you for making this app. My 8 year old son has Autism and Language Disorder.
Like many kids with ASD he reads in a monotone voice and tends to not recognize the punctuation etc., This app has helped him read longer paragraphs and chapter books because the text is broken up, and more importantly it has helped model appropriate changes in how a book is narrated I.e he is now recognizing that you should briefly pause at the end of a sentence and that you can change your tone of voice when reading the characters words within quotations.
I have been looking high and low for an app just like this. I love the customization options. He sometimes chooses to hear the narrator read before he reads and sometimes he listens to the narration after he has read a paragraph independently. He has started to show improvement in fluency and is better able to read longer books without melting down or engaging in behaviours.
I really hope you add more readers to this app in the future. It is truly a great app for readers with special needs.
Please, please, please add on or make additional levels of more advanced readers just like these in another app. I don't know what we will do when he masters all the readers in the app and needs something at the next level.
