SoundGauge: Decibel Meter

SoundGauge turns your iPhone into a real-time dB(A) sound level meter that also tells you how long that noise is safe to listen to. Point it at any room — a concert, a workshop, a busy office — and see the live reading, a plain-English context label, and your running average and peak. Most decibel apps stop at the number. SoundGauge adds the part that matters for your ears: a safe-listening countdown based on the NIOSH 85 dB / 8-hour recommended exposure limit, so a quick glance tells you whether you're fine for hours or should step out soon. — WHAT MAKES SOUNDGAUGE DIFFERENT — • Safe-listening countdown, not just a number The reading comes with how long that level is safe to listen to, based on the NIOSH 85 dB / 8-hour recommended exposure limit. • Plain-English context labels Quiet room, city traffic, live concert — you always know what the number means without memorizing decibel scales. • Running average (LEQ) and peak A fluctuating needle is hard to trust; the session average and peak give you the honest picture of the whole exposure. • Exposure sessions with daily noise dose Log a timed session and see its average, peak, duration, and what percent of your safe daily noise dose it used. • Full exposure history Every logged session is kept on a timeline you can review anytime. • CSV export Send your log out as CSV — for your own records or for your audiologist. • Calibration and two-week dose trends Pro users can fine-tune the meter to their microphone and review their daily dose at a glance. • Private by design Everything runs on-device. No account, no ads, and audio is never recorded or sent anywhere. — PRICING — Included with the app: live dB(A) meter, safe-listening time, running average (LEQ) and peak, and plain-English context labels. SoundGauge Pro is a one-time in-app purchase — not a subscription — and unlocks timed exposure sessions with daily-dose percentages, two-week dose trends, microphone calibration, full exposure history, and CSV export. — FEEDBACK — Made by a small indie team.
