Zero bid

My opposite bid “0” and lead with an ace…happened a few times…glitch? Hoping I didn’t have clubs? (stupid). Partner typically overbids if I go high but may just underbid because they suck. Be nice for an update what with all the AI buffoonery.

Zero bid

My opposite bid “0” and was the first to lead and led with an ace…happened a couple times…glitch? Hoping I didn’t have clubs (stupid)? Be nice for an update.

Size matters

Spades has been my go to game. Now they have reduced the size and it is no longer the size of my iPad screen. It is a small rectangle inside the middle of the screen. This is uncomfortable on my eyes so I no longer enjoy playing the game. Not sure why they decided to change the size of the game.

Needs Many Improvements

Double tap to play a card is ridiculous. Slows game and simply adds unnecessary hand movements to a methodical game. 🤯 UI outdated but clean. Hate avatars look and goofy personas. Makes game feel real cheap and immature for adult ages. Flaws make it hard to complete a game with seriousness

Spiders: a fun challenge and helpful hints. Really lots of fun.

Great challenge

Random Deal, Please!

This is not a review; it is a suggestion. I believe this is a great Spades game and I have played many, many hands. I realized early on that the game was in ‘teaching mode’ because once my partner and I got in sync and were winning consistently, the opposing team began getting more and more amazing hands dealt to them. And, yes, it is a learning process, and you learn to get around that by making the right (low) bids, but, eventually, it becomes very boring. However, after a period if time in that mode, and when you think it couldn’t get any worse, the opponent team began getting most, if not all, of the spades, making it next to impossible to win unless you play using the Blind Nil option and are very lucky. Needless to say, I’m now searching for alternative apps. But, before I go, I am suggesting that a random deal option be made available and that you let the cards fall where they may!

Braindead Partner AI Ruins This One

The amount of times the numbskull partner AI bags the team out trying to set the other team, or busts my nil, throwing low, causing me to get caught, and then immediately tosses out a king or Ace of that same suit to win their book, infuriates me.
Great time-waster, but you’re better off with a spades game with online capabilities, to play with other people that know how to properly play Spades. I really wish the partner AI was better.
I just lost my second game in a row because we bagged out twice throughout the game, and the other team had 9 bags for most of the game, but my partner thinks it’s playing Hungry Hungry Hippos, gobbling up every book they can, even when they call 1 or 2 books.

Too easy

Great game but too easy to win

I thanks

So addictive

I’m so love this game! Time gets away from me when I am playing!😁😁👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Unpredictable partner

Your partner plays sometimes against you and the behavior is erratic. A pity, ruins the experience

Addictive

I play this game so much, I find myself running the battery down on my phone. My one complaint is what my “partner” does when the opposition tries a nil bet (attempting to not catch any tricks). Instead of concentrating on making the bet, the “partner” tries to bust the nil bettor, throwing away aces an lb kings and trumping your high cards.

Poor logic

Whoever wrote the logic for how Megan, your only option for a partner, plays needs to address some things. The AI’s throw spades at obviously wrong times, typically after the player preceding them lays a spade. Also, when the opposing team has a nil bid, the logic is buggy enough that Megan tanks the round because she throws too high, over-prioritizing throwing too high in an attempt to make the nil-bidder take a book, even when it becomes factually impossible to do so because of the cards that have already been played. When this happens, she will beat or even high-spade you while you are winning the book and she is the last to lay. Even if she can’t beat you, she will throw high instead of low, which can be a good strategy but only in the right situations. They just didn’t seem to take these situations into consideration though. There’s also an issue where both you and the other team have made their own bids and she actively tries to win the books and seems to try take the bags instead of trying to push them to the other team. Yet another issue is that when you are close to 500, with due credit of the strategist who coded this, the opponents will typically bid low in an effort to set you so they can catch up. But the problem is that much of the time, during the round they seem to forget what they are doing and then take the bags themselves. They also always try to strategically avoid throwing a king before the ace is thrown, which opens up an odd situation where even if the other team is winning and the player to throw last could and should safely win it with the king, it won’t throw it, which leads to them frequently giving books away, sometimes at the cost of getting set. This effectively makes having the queen (when you have ace and the queen combo) more powerful than the king of the same suit. Exploited another way, it can give you an advantage with the king if you throw last because the AI, itself wouldn’t do that. Yet another issue seems to be that on the first round of a nil-bid, she won’t protect you even when she can. So, she will let you win the round and lose the nil-bid, then the following round pay a card that would have protected it.

These are off the top of my head. I’m sure if I were to play it again, I’d notice other exploits that were obviously the result of poor strategy, poorly coded logic, but likely both.

Excellent Game But…

Let me preface this by saying I am by no means the best spades player out there, but I do have an issue with how the game plays. My issue is with my computer partner, who at times, makes what I would call “bonehead moves.” For example, sometimes when I play a clear winner (i.e. an ace card), my partner sometimes cut me, for no apparent reason.

My only recommendation for improvement for this game would be to improve the “artificial intelligence” for the computer partner, to play smarter.
