Spanish in a month

This app is very easy to use and good fun. It is basically a listening comprehension exercise with six pictures presented with the language accompaniment for each and we then hear each description and must choose the correct picture. The pictures are clear and entertaining. The way in which vocabulary, short phrases and sentences are built-up is pretty good, with opportunities to practice what has been learnt beforehand. I find it quite helpful both as an exercise in comprehension, in vocabulary building and in listening – to both a male and female voice. The pictures are pretty clear but occasionally there is ambiguity and it is possible to understand what is said but to then choose a picture which is appropriate but wrong. Now and then, when a new grammatical set – such as prepositions – is introduced it can be pretty well impossible to guess the meaning from the pictures. Matters tend to become clearer over time though. I have used this app for both Greek and Spanish learning: in Greek it was also very helpful to see the words written down as I heard them and helped me to get used to the Greek alphabet

EXCELLENT

I am a former high school Spanish teacher, and highly recommend this app for at-home learning, or as a tool within the classroom. This method employs the same used by your mom when she was teaching you your first language: one hears the word repetitively used within a specific context to provide meaning, in this case a photograph. Although it will be up to the user to seek out opportunities to speak the language, there is time to repeat what is said out loud, but not so long that it is boring to wait. Undoubtedly, this is a great tool to improve comprehension and spelling. The biggest plus: if you don’t like to force yourself to memorize (vocabulary, verb endings, etc.,) with this method you pick them up naturally after your brain learns the pattern - much like a native speaker would do. The native speakers on the app are clear and easy to understand, and the accent is a standard Castilian accent (hence the Spanish flag.) This is the first Spanish-learning application of its kind that I have found and I love it so far.
