Having a ball learning Spanish with my 8 year old. Excellent app. Thoroughly recommend it.
The wrong spelling
I really dislike when a game meant to teach toddlers spelling has objects labeled or spelled incorrectly. For instance, cubo (meaning cube) is spelled cubu and repeatedly pronounced cubo while spelling it cubu. Very annoying.
Great App....
I like this app...Just beginning. Spanish. I use this app with other Spanish apps and that way Learning goes faster. I would definitely recommend this app. If you use it get ready to give it a 5 Star Rating...I hope whoever made this will make other apps for learning..Signed School Teacher....Enjoy !!!

Great Spanish phonics game
My three year old and my kindergarten students love it!
Great Puzzles, Spanish Phonics!
What We Liked:
My girls love the build-a-room approach to early spelling and puzzles. My five-year-old tells me, “This app can help me with two things. It can help me with spelling and with Spanish! Look at my bed, isn’t it pretty?”
As a mom I love that you can set up multiple profiles for your children so they have their own bedrooms, own rewards, and own sets of accomplishments in both the word book and puzzle box. It is easy-peasy to switch back and forth between children, and though you can lock this feature, I leave it open so my children can take turns with the app.
I also really appreciate that the app includes Spanish phonics (the best way to learn spelling in ANY language) as well as letter names, so your child can hear words sounded out, and spelled out along with the completed vocabulary words in Spanish. If your family speaks Spanish as a first language you can also choose one of the all-Spanish options for an immersive experience that will be familiar to your child.
The highly motivating format of the app (completing activities to earn stars for bedroom decorations) has kept my children playing with this app for hours. The art quality is excellent, and the app is easy to use and navigate all the way around.
What We Didn’t Like:
There isn’t currently a way to have English instructional and motivational voice-over along with the Latin Spanish pronunciation of the word book activities. The English is currently connected to Castilian (Spain) which may be less valuable to many North Americans.
I’d love to see some spoken Spanish vocabulary added to the puzzle box – perhaps the name of the animal spoken in Spanish before congratulating the child in English for his success – as it is these activities are identical to the English version of the app when the app is used in the English/Spanish setting.
Like the English version I’d also like to see this app updated to let children leave the purchasing screen without being forced to use their stars.
Overall:
Spanish Word Book and Puzzle Box HD is an incredibly engaging way to practice and reinforce early Spanish and puzzle solving skills for young learners. The combination of Spanish phonics AND Spanish letter names for spelling make this a rich, valuable option for building familiarity with the language through time-tested early literacy methods. The puzzles are awesome too, though not tied directly to Spanish vocabulary.
