Speaker hardware differs between iPhone models, so a sweep is often a better second try than the same tone again. SEE WHETHER YOUR SPEAKER IS BLOCKED Most apps ask you how it sounded. ToneFlush measures it. It plays a ladder of eight tones, 120 Hz up to 4 kHz, out of each speaker it can address, and listens to what comes back through the microphone. It measures the two speakers it can genuinely drive: the earpiece, and the loudspeaker at the bottom. It does not invent a third. The holes on the other side of the connector are the microphone, and no app can drive those. Your first run becomes a baseline. Run a pattern, test again, and each speaker gets its own before, after and change. It listens to the room first, and when the room is too loud to measure properly it says so, instead of showing a number it cannot stand behind. These are relative readings from an uncalibrated microphone, not lab instruments, and they cannot tell you whether your hardware is damaged.
