Top reviews

Love this app!

I don’t understand the poor reviews people have left on this app. I’ve been using this for about a year now, and I’m actually learning Estonian. I love that you have to actually type or speak, rather than selecting bubbles like Duolingo.

Speakly wont help with speaking

Speakly’s design mean that you can’t reasonably discover how to achieve proper pronunciation, especially with difficult letter combinations. In my view they are better than Duolingo but still it is a fail

Terrible for speaking practice

Very poor speech recognition.

Question

Is there No possibility to learn multiple languages at the Same time?

Great Tool!

I really like this app, the mix of writing, speaking, and grammar keeps me from getting bored with just one method. I’ve been using it for a little over three months and will continue to use it until I feel comfortable with the language. That being said there are 2 bugs that continue to annoy me. Both are on the Writing section where you listen to the phrase and write it out as you heard it. Half the time when you click the light blueish sound icon to start It will act like it’s playing audio but will be silent, so you have to click it two more times to actually get it to start. then when you heard the phrase and write it out it will show you where you spelt a word wrong or otherwise were incorrect. When you go to correct yourself and spell out the word again it will just remove your typing icon from the box, sometimes for multiple attempts. I know those are minor bugs on an otherwise great app but they’ve been annoying me since the beginning. Love the app, i’m learning a lot! keep up the great work!

Terrible AI voices

Speakly’s introduction of AI has become a fatal flaw for the app. Having lived in Germany and Italy I can say with certainty that Speakly’s AI pronounces words incorrectly, is grating on the ears, and worsens their software that is meant to recognize correct pronunciation (meaning, it often doesn’t recognize correct pronunciation anymore). AI is never an adequate replacement for human speech and Speakly’s AI has been a huge detriment to my learning, decreasing my use of the app to nothing. The subscription ended up being a waste of money that would have been better spent on a real language class. It’s ridiculous, Speakly’s developers need to drop AI and go back to working with actual speakers of the language for audio recordings and tutoring to make the app worth using again.

Amazing App but with a few typos

I love this app! It’s excellent at giving you what you need to improve, I love being able to practice grammar and even conversations on this app, which Duolingo doesn’t really have. I feel very confident that I will actually be able to master Spanish through this app (maybe French or Italian, and maybe even Russian or Finnish later). I REALLY wish they could add more languages (I also want to learn Farsi)
Though the reason I have it 4 stars is that on the grammar practice section, it sometimes tells you that your correct answer is incorrect (it gives you the answer you put as correct, that’s how I know) and that your accent (I have more of a Latin American accent due to living in California) is incorrect since it seems as if it just has the Castilian Dialect.
Though I say that if you’re looking for a language learning app that really helps, this is for you!

Out of tries - again …

Certain bugs (or features) are extremely irritating and still in new version. I would list them, but the app doesn’t help much with correcting errors - so why should I?

Trying Falou to see if their learning model and implementation is better

Constant freezing or won’t open

This app freezes constantly or won’t open at all, sometimes for several hours or days. The content is decent but is no where near as robust or interactive as Duo Lingo. The only reason I am using it is because the language I need is not yet available on Duo Lingo.

Skip ahead

I don’t use the app anymore because I can’t skip ahead to say beginner two or beginner three I can only start at the beginning of either beginner, intermediate or advanced

Beginner has way too little words because it starts at zero intermediate has too many because I am not Anywhere near 900 words yet I know roughly 400 to 500 words speaklu does not give me an option to start where I am

Very limited in language options

Hi so I inquired about you adding new language and if you are learning a language they don't have I hope they add asain languages such as Japanese and others

Decent but not great

The app has a lot of great exercises but it can be extremely buggy at times.

Good app

A quick and easy way to learn international languages, also its user friendly and very informative.

Good app but still has some bugs

A very good app for learning languages but still has some technical issues to resolve. Often encounters loading issues. Hopefully gets resolved soon because the overtime membership is great value for money otherwise.

Very good

Which language next?

Great tool for learning

Fantastic app congratulations I will never stop using it !!!!!

It needs better revision system

it would be much better with the interactive SRS system for vocab revision, because going through flashcards is not effective

Good but buggy

I appreciate that they offer Estonian and the lessons seem to be decent. Still don’t know what I’m doing but that’s to be expected. My issue is with the very long load times and lagging. It is frustrating especially since I paid for a year membership.

It is not working

It’s not working properly today
