About
SpearoCY is a free app for spearfishers and freedivers in Cyprus. It has no ads, no accounts and no in-app purchases, and it keeps working when you are out of signal.
BEFORE YOU GO
• A dive score from 0 to 100 for every spot, based on waves, swell, wind and estimated visibility. Onshore and offshore wind is judged for each stretch of coast.
• The legal speargun hours for the day, calculated for the exact spot.
• Hourly charts, a 7-day outlook and a ranking of where to go today.
• Sea and air temperature, current, UV, sun and moon times, a wetsuit suggestion and hazard warnings.
OFFLINE MAP
• A street-level map of the whole coast stored in the app, with the exact coastline and seabed depths.
• The official no-fishing zones: marine protected areas, wreck reserves, ports, fish farms and firing ranges.
• A GPS check that warns you inside a restricted zone or outside the legal hours.
• Wind and sea layers with a forecast time slider.
FISH AND RULES
• 68 illustrated species with Greek names, ID notes, habitat and minimum sizes.
• Protected, invasive and dangerous species are clearly marked.
• The Cyprus spearfishing rules in plain language: licence, hours, buoy, catch limits, sizes and fines.
ON THE WATER
• A breath-hold session timer with recovery alarms.
• A catch log with size check, a tracker for the 5 kg plus one fish daily limit and CSV export.
• An emergency page with 112, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, hyperbaric chambers and first aid.
SpearoCY is an independent information app built on open data from Open-Meteo, EMODnet, OpenStreetMap and the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research. It is not a government service, so always check the current rules with the Department. Never dive alone and always use a surface buoy.
