About
Scrabble for color.
Spectralopus is a tile-laying strategy game where the words are palettes. Place colored tiles in a row or column on the 9×9 board. The hues you arrange together must form a recognized harmony — a relationship from color theory — or the move is rejected.
Four palettes, each one rarer and more rewarding than the last:
• Monochrome — same hue, repeated. The quiet chord.
• Analogous — three hues sitting side by side on the wheel. The gradient.
• Complementary — two hues from opposite sides of the wheel, holding each other in tension.
• Triadic — three evenly-spaced hues forming a perfect triangle. The boldest palette, four times the score.
Premium squares boost saturation or luminosity. Two wild tiles in the bag let you complete a harmony you couldn't make with what's in your rack. Place all seven tiles in a single move for a +50 bonus.
Features:
• Pass-and-play on a single device, perfect for game night
• Solo play against the computer at Easy, Medium, or Hard difficulty
• Training mode with AI-seeded boards to sharpen your eye
• Online multiplayer through Game Center, with multiple matches running concurrently
• In-game chat to talk strategy with your opponent
• Studio aesthetic — warm paper, deep ink, no chrome competing with the colors
• Full Dynamic Type and VoiceOver support, including hue names
You don't need to know color theory to start. Spectralopus teaches you the wheel as you play. Within a few rounds you'll start to see palettes everywhere.
