Awful would not recommend

Really bad app and not user friendly at all.

Excellent but to improve

I use for sermons and when I want to remember what to say in a meeting- improvements could be- screen lock, background colours, change font size on individual words- highlighting- must be said very useful

Useful but a bit overpriced

Agree with Annie - really needs formatting features like bold and underline at least, colour could be useful. It would be a big improvement if the user could jump to edit from the timed run-through speech section (e.g. long press to jump to edit that line). Instead, you have to back out to the edit area, and then find the line you need to edit, enter that screen, make the edit, and then return to where you were. Granted you can do this from the edit part but sometimes you want to tweak as you’re running through it during practice. Also the edit buttons forward/back/add line are a bit close together. Could be really good with all these improvements (and worth the price).

Terrible. Did not manage to do the simplest thing: import text from Word or email. Is this a scam?

Ok but room for improvement

Quite useful app. Would be great if it allowed text to be formatted to allow underlines and bolding.

Costs a lot, barely works

If you want to spend $5 to get really frustrated by an app during the already stressful process of delivering a speech, look no further. This app will make you shout at your phone. What could be more fun?

Limited functionality

Biggest gripe is not being able to swipe up to down to move from card to card. Awkward to swipe to right with one’s left thumb. Overpriced app.

Klasse

tut was sie soll! Einfach zu handhaben! Ist klasse für Reden und Vorträge. Schön wäre es noch für die Zukunft, wenn dir App Fettgedrucktes und Farbiges übernehmen würde. Ansonsten ein prima Tool!

I was mugged!

This cost a fiver and to be completely honest doesn't do what it says it does.

Can't access Dropbox files, just greys out all the files, and there's absolutely no support function or FAQs.

Steer clear!

You should be able to import any text file with the extension .txt or .rtf. If that is not working, please get in contact so we can track down the issue (support@mentalfaculty.com)

Dropbox Import Problem

Over the past 4 years, I have relied on this great app on a daily basis. I recently purchased a new iPad and was excited about the prospect of importing my old speeches via DropBox. Alas, the app crashes repeatedly and consistently during the import process.

I'm afraid we don't support Dropbox sync. What format were your notes in? Just text with three hyphens to separate cards? If you get in contact, we can try to help, and get the notes imported (support@mentalfaculty.com).

2.0 a great improvement!!!

The only feature I really wanted that isn't there now was a sync with Dropbox. (The developer uses iCloud sync but that keeps me from being able to work on Windows)

Probably 4.5 stars but I'll round up.

Below were my original concerns

* Doesn't support landscape

* Needs a feature to choose the largest font so your card will fit on screen

* painful to edit on device

* would be nice if it had Dropbox support with syncing. (Instead of just import)

* timer works well for pacing

In version 2.0 of Speeches, we have added most of these features: landscape is now supported; text scales down to fit the card; you can much more easily import from Dropbox and other apps; and sync between devices is provided via iCloud. Please give the app another try. It is a free upgrade.

Buyer beware!

I purchased it with high hopes. What I've discovered here is an app extremely poorly written. The concept is good however. Don't plan on editing your work as it thwarts you at every turn it would seem. If there is a link here to contact the creator, I couldn't find it. It is bare bones to the max!!

Just downloaded this app which seemed ok until I recognised that what you add a new speech on your iPad it doesn’t appear on your iPhone!! Surely these IOS devises sync so you get the same files on each devise? If they don’t I wish I hadn’t bought it :(

Basic

Easy to use but very limited in function and adaptability. I can't read my notes beyond 1 page or increase font size.
I'm off to find better.

The presentation mode is deliberately designed to not be scrollable, because there is nothing worse in a presentation than fumbling to scroll a page. We have just released version 2.0, and that does scale down text to fit. Hopefully this addresses your issues.

Speeches

I purchased this application which certainly looks good. The documentation for using this application is absolutley basic, it needs to be more self explanatory, it is difficult to setup to use with the current very basic documentation. Improve the documentation and it would be good

When you first install Speeches, it gives some introductory sample speeches, as well as tips on usage. The app itself is quite straightforward, and should be mostly self explanatory. Please contact us if you have problems (support@mentalfaculty.com)

Ok but basic

This app is ok - it basically does what it says it's going to do, but it's a bit basic. You can only have one font for the whole speech, and the timer is in a small font and can't be changed. I really need to be able to glance at it without obviously reading from it, and this app doesn't let me do that

We have now released version 2.0 of Speeches, and would like you to invite you to try the app again (upgrade is free). The look and layout of the app is updated, which may address some of your concerns. It also now syncs across devices, and has a number of other improvements.

Poor effort

At first glance looks good. But using it a nightmare.

Issues:
- Does not work in landscape
- Cannot edit time or font after you create your framework (the number one reason to not buy this)
- Cannot import text

Avoid. Poor show from the developer.

The new Speeches 2.0 now supports landscape, and you have always been able to edit your speech duration and font, so if you are experiencing issues with that, please get in contact (support@mentalfaculty.com). Text import is also possible, and much easier in version 2.0, including import from rtf files.

Es kann ja wohl nicht sein, dass das App nur txt lesen kann, und dann auch noch alle Umlaute falsch Liest!

Unfortunately text formats are much more challenging than they seem. I am surprised to hear that the accents were not being imported properly. We have recently introduced version 2.0, which also supports importing from rich-text files. If you are still having issues, we would love to hear about it, so that we can make the appropriate fixes. Absolutely useless

This is the most frustrating app I have come across, it doesn't do anything. I can't import into it and can't even start a new document...it just doesn't work and there is no chance of getting my money back. I have to give it one star but that's it.
