About

Speed Gonzo is a GPS speedometer for people who think mph is fine, but nine other units are better. It does the responsible thing first: real-time GPS speed, a big satisfying circular gauge, and a chunky digital number you can actually read without squinting. Very normal speedometer behavior. Then you swipe left, and things get a little unhinged. TEN WAYS TO KNOW HOW FAST YOU'RE GOING — Miles per hour and kilometers per hour, for the responsible adult in you — Knots, for pretending you're on a yacht even though you're in a Honda Civic — Meters per second, for showing off at parties nobody invited you to — Leagues per hour, because Jules Verne would want you to — Percent of light speed, so you can find out exactly how far you are from a warp drive (spoiler: very far) — Furlongs per hour, a deep cut for horse racing enthusiasts and nobody else — KiloAttoParsecs per hour, a real engineering joke unit we decided deserved a real speedometer — Smoots per hour, a tribute to one very patient MIT pledge and one very long bridge — The GREG, a completely unscientific unit with a suspiciously scientific-sounding backstory involving a 1985 DeLorean Tap any unit name and a little dialog pops up explaining, with a straight face, why it exists. Some are real history. Some are real physics. One of them is just a guy's wingspan times 88. MAKE IT YOURS Set your base calibration to miles or kilometers, then pick from four dial color themes because a good gauge deserves good lighting. A fixed reference marker keeps 60 mph (or 100 km/h) visible on the dial at all times, no matter which increasingly ridiculous unit you've wandered off into — so yes, it's still a real, useful speedometer. It just also happens to know how fast you're going in Smoots. Speed Gonzo is for anyone who's ever looked at a normal speedometer and thought: this is fine, but what if it also had opinions.
