Nice idea, but needs some polish
I’ve only been playing around with it for a few minutes, but the handwriting detection seems pretty accurate so far, and I like the fact that the app will read my chosen words without me having to record myself saying them.
However a few things have also immediately jumped out at me that I think could be improved…
1. The orientation for the spelling tests seems to be locked into landscape view, but for the menu it’s locked into portrait view, which is annoying.
2. The area for writing your answers is quite tight, and your writing gets cropped if you stray out of bounds - given the amount of dead space on the screen it doesn’t really seem necessary to hide the overflow in this way, and I think it spoils the look.
3. The play, submit and hint buttons could probably do with some prompts or labelling.
4. It could probably do with a repeat / hear the same question again button, too.
Also (and these are more suggestions / requests) as a parent of a disabled child who’s handwriting is a little shaky and larger than average it would be nice to have a ‘scale’ button or slider to increase the size of the page lines, and also the option to use the keyboard to type the answer if they’re having a bad hand-writing day.
I appreciate that these things are always a WIP, and I’d be happy to revise my rating upwards and give a new review, if the above get fixed / added, as I think there’s the potential for this to be really useful little tool with a bit more work.
