There's a toggle for that in Settings.) • Puzzles load faster • Fixed a bug where tapping near the center letter could enter a different one • Found Words list scrolls more smoothly

User reviews

Has potential but needs work

This game doesn’t take plural words, seems to be missing other words, and doesn’t have yesterday’s words. the number of possible words by start letter and number of letters is a good feature but the numbers don’t add up correctly.

Subscription not worth it.

You get no ads, but nothing else. I was hoping for archives, and answers after you’ve reached genius. NYT spelling bee so much better.

Fun, but Gameplay Lags

Overall a solid app, but gameplay (especially delays after word entry and selecting central letter) prevent a 5-start review

Response from developer

Thank you for taking the time to write this — and for being specific. That's what made it actionable. You were right on both counts. We found a bug in how taps were being detected: the letters are drawn as hexagons but their touch areas were square, so the surrounding letters were quietly stealing part of the center letter's area. That's why it sometimes entered the wrong letter. We also tracked down what was causing the pause after entering a word — the confirmation animations were queuing up behind each other, so the more words you found in a row, the further behind the feedback fell. Both are fixed and in testing now, and they'll ship in an upcoming update. We'd love to hear whether it feels right to you once it lands. Thanks for playing.

Very poor vocabulary standards

Why does this game not allow plurals, past participles and words like salient or does? Also I do not like the way the word shows up in the middle of the screen and stays there for what feels like ages? It really slows me down. Looking for a replacement for the NY times paid Spelling Bee but sadly this isn’t it.

Response from developer

Thank you for writing this. You gave us two specific problems instead of a star rating, and both were fair. The popup was the easier one, and you put your finger on why it was wrong: it wasn't that there was a confirmation, it was that it sat in the middle of the board and stayed. In the next update, ordinary words confirm quietly on the input line where you're already looking, and the center popup is reserved for pangrams — a couple of times per puzzle instead of every single word. There's also a setting to bring it back for every word if you miss it. Along the way we found and fixed a bug where tapping near the center letter could enter one of the surrounding letters instead, which we suspect was making things feel worse than the popup alone. The missing words are the more serious issue, and we're not going to pretend it's solved. You're right that plurals, past participles and ordinary words like the ones you listed should be there, and we're going through the word list now. We're checking the specific examples you gave. It's the thing we most want to get right, because a word game that rejects real words isn't really working. We know what you're comparing us to, and we'd rather earn that comparison than argue with it. If you're willing to give it another look once these land, we'd genuinely like to know whether it feels different.

Too many words missing

I thought I was gonna like this game until I put in common words that I was told are invalid words like integrating when it has all the letters available. I don’t understand these spelling games that are missing common English words! I find that frustrating and make me not trust the apps.

Response from developer

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this feedback with us! We completely understand how frustrating it is to spell a valid word like 'integrating' only for it not to be recognized. Building a comprehensive word list is a continuous journey, and player feedback like yours is essential in helping us get it right. We’re committed to making this better. We’ve actually just prepared a new update with an expanded dictionary that will be live very soon for everyone to try! We hope you'll give us another chance once it's out. Thanks again for helping us improve!
